Aloysiusbb:
for those within 1km is under which phrase. please advise. thanks.
all except phase 1. -
You are confused. Your distance from school doesn’t determine your registration phase.

Hi all,
A little confused by the phases now and MOE’s website is "Undergoing updates…" so appreciate some advice.
I stay near to Chong Fu but i am unsure if the within 1km will be ‘safe’ enough to ensure him a place. Rather put him into my hubby’s ex-school (we will move). Do you think its better idea?
Hub is ex-student of Gong Shang primary school. If we want to use this to help my son register (in 2014), does my hubby:
1) has to join alumni?
2) he does not have any proof but he can purchase the result / cert from Customer service of MOE?
3) Is it true you have to join the alumni for ‘x’ number of years before you qualify for your child to use your alumni status?
4) Using alumni status is which phase now? Will this be a ‘guarantee’ can get in phase?
I welcome PM replies to my above questions. Many thanks in advance. -

which means, aloysiusbb, distance is only used when there is balloting at phase 2 onwards. so far balloting for most schools were from phase 2b onwards.
each phase is for different set of people.
better read the p1 registration phase asap. -

I believe my answers above should be correct as of this moment....unless MOE decides to introduce more changes.

Anytime you can utilize your status to gain an advantage is a better idea.
By getting an assured place, you take away the uncertainty of balloting.
Hub is ex-student of Gong Shang primary school. If we want to use this to help my son register (in 2014), does my hubby:
1) has to join alumni?
Not necessary.
2) he does not have any proof but he can purchase the result / cert from Customer service of MOE?
That's right. See http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=630783#p630783.
3) Is it true you have to join the alumni for 'x' number of years before you qualify for your child to use your alumni status?
You need to be an alumni for minimally one full year by the time registration starts (this is from memory...please correct me if I'm wrong).
4) Using alumni status is which phase now? Will this be a 'guarantee' can get in phase?
Joining alumni - phase 2A1
Didn't join alumni, just old boy/girl - phase 2A2

Hi, I am in the planning stages of getting my child registered for Geylang Methodist Primary School and I’m living within 1KM of the school.
I am also planning to go for community leader (RC EM) as I have some experience in PA before and hope to give back to the community.
However, I have a niggling question:
I studied at another primary school but had been at Geylang Methodist Secondary School after that.
As Geylang Methodist Sec and Pri schools are affiliated, am I considered an ‘old boy’ of the Primary school as well?
thanks for sharing… -
Hi everyone, I’ve a burning question.
To qualify for phase 2A2, does the parent need to graduate from the primary school? For e.g., if I was in Primary School A from P1-P3; then transfered to Primary School B from P4-P6, can I apply to Primary School A under phase 2A2?
Thanks for your help… -

Parent need not graduate from the school to qualify for P2A. In your example, yes, your child qualifies in P2A for School A so long as you are able to prove that you ever studied in that school.Hi everyone, I've a burning question.

Thanks for your prompt reply. But can anyone verify this? Cos I have heard different stories about this, and that the parent must have graduated from the primary school with a valid PSLE cert before we can qualify for 2A2.
