Me too. My kids don't nap so I want to snooze also cannot. But I am quite good at eating snake here and there! Lol! -

Given that you are SAHM, do you outsource the kids tuition to enrichment centers? ARe your spouse agreeable to that arrangement? If you are teaching your kids FT by yourself at home, would you say that your kids benefit staying at home under your tutorage than enrichment schools?

I prefer to SAHM as I can take care my kids well.So I don't want to waste money to entrichment.But I put him in kindergarten not in PAP.I let him to attend ICR.Firstly my DH didn't agree then now he used to it.Now he asked me to send tuitions,but I don't want.cos I believe that own parent is the best T for the own child.Another thing my son doesn't like to go to tuitions.He would tired and can't cooperate with me.If I didn't teach him he would drop his marks.Now I have to Teach 4 subjects and do chores at home,shopping,read current affairs,send and fetch.Day by Day work load increased.Now I have to Teach the second one. -
I have friend who also earn 10k each. They hired a maid who must have the capability to drive. (drive kids to school), pick wife and then they go grocery shopping.... its also trust i guess but the maid has been with them for about 3 years now....
they think the 10k is better than being SAHM. To each their own beliefs.Imp75:
HOw about this? Middle income grossing couple earning more than $10k each but hubby earns slightly lesser but wife can't drive. Should the wife contemplate staying home, the only monetary impact is less savings I guess, lifestyle and all else remains.

Still outsource for tuition. Sec 3 and P6, no joke. Can't teach them myself, most of the secondary sch stuff, all forgotten (i got no degree). Only help my P6 maths and Chinese since she got no tuition for these two. Basically, DH still ok to spend the money. We treat it as an 'investment' for our children. I think if a SAHM is capable of teaching her kids, the kids will benefit more than enrichment sch simply because a SAHM can tailor the 'program' to suit the kids but for enrichment sch, it's the other way round. -

I am a sahm with three kids. We spend good money every month for their enrichment classes (not tuition) even though my DH & I are fully capable to teach them ourselves. We view enrichment & tuition as two different purposes. Enrichments are like an additional source of exposure to what the school teaches, hence beneficial. Tuition to us, are for weaker kids who needed more guidance in their current schoolwork. In that sense, yes we parents can double up as tuition teachers.
Having said that, I do have ex-MOE teachers now sahms who outsourced all teachings to outsiders bcos in the process of coaching & teaching, it sort of soured the mother-daughter/mother-son relationship cos of expectations. After the outsource, their relationships turned for the better.

Yeah how to be a SAHM if hubby expects me to be the maid, teacher, caretaker, cook and the laundry woman? I am not a superwoman.
