Same here, but I'm lazier than u. I only clean the house once a week, cook max twice per week but laundry wash everyday.

For a lot of FTWM, their hubby also expect them to be maid, teacher, caretaker, cook and laundry woman.

Rare are the ones who pitch in autmatically without the wife kicking up a fuss or going on strike.

Given that you are SAHM, do you outsource the kids tuition to enrichment centers? ARe your spouse agreeable to that arrangement? If you are teaching your kids FT by yourself at home, would you say that your kids benefit staying at home under your tutorage than enrichment schools?

I don't outsource though hubby doesn't mind. I clean, cook, teach, and work from home. It's not something that I chose to do, cleaning and cooking not being my forte, but I HAD to do it because of my children's needs. One has environmental and food allergies, one has learning needs. For the first time in my life I start to examine mops and ask for cleaning tips. I google ways on how to clean the toilet, haha. I just could not find someone who can clean to my specifications, and I can't buy cooked food that my child can eat without reactions.

I had no choice and after some struggling, I find that I CAN do it. It was a painful learning curve where cleaning and cooking were concerned, but
pretty manageable now.

My hubby does spend time with the kids after he gets home from work, and does the dishes and he is in charge of the fishes. We hardly go out by ourselves, maybe once a month or so? Me time is rare and only if I can outlast the kids at night. But I find that it is okay.

Yup, nobody was born knowing how to do everything… we learn based on circumstances.


I always tell my hubby to learn and not use "I dunno how" as an excuse not to do it. I also wasn’t born knowing how to change diapers for the baby.

Of coz we SAHMs are not superwomen. Superwomen are pple who work high-stress jobs full time and still manage to have 3 GEP kids with no outsourced tuition, a spick-n-span home with no maid, and still "satisfy" her hubby at nite.

I am a sahm with three kids. We spend good money every month for their enrichment classes (not tuition) even though my DH & I are fully capable to teach them ourselves. We view enrichment & tuition as two different purposes. Enrichments are like an additional source of exposure to what the school teaches, hence beneficial. Tuition to us, are for weaker kids who needed more guidance in their current schoolwork. In that sense, yes we parents can double up as tuition teachers.

Having said that, I do have ex-MOE teachers now sahms who outsourced all teachings to outsiders bcos in the process of coaching & teaching, it sort of soured the mother-daughter/mother-son relationship cos of expectations. After the outsource, their relationships turned for the better.

Already reach the stage where it's more of enrichment than tuition.... better outsource cos' they have ready pool of material/methodology. By the time I gather and comprehend them myself, think my kids in Uni liao.......

Yah you see, in terms of argument, I will lose because;

I can’t keep the house as good as the maid
U can’t teach as well so need to outsource
I can’t drive so can’t be a driver to kids

I might as well go outside earn money!! Maybe that’s my forte! Man is so practical, there are no room for emotions involved
