The form says those who are currently in gep school should at least put 2 choices. Does it means there is still chance of getting into the 2nd choice if our first choice is current gep school? Else, what is the rationale behind this instruction. Anyone experiences this?

maybe you shd try to irritate them, eg, if u r in RGPS, then put ACSP as second choice! :!:

What if one from RGPS apply for 1st choice NYPS, 2nd choice HPPS and got rejected by both schools? Will she get a place back in RGPS GEP or RGPS mainstream?

For those who are attending the GEP briefing this Wed, are you all arriving there early to view the GEP booths?

Any one of you whose child did not take Higher Chinese, but intend to enrol him /her in a GEP SAP school?

I am worried about mine. His current school is non-SAP, and his Chinese is quite terok, but I am eyeing on GEP SAP school, so abit worried his chances of getting in would be low. Also even if he gets in, dunno whether he can cope???

Any parents with similar experience to share? thks!!

Check your own child's needs. What's good for others may not be good for you and vice versa. I've also wondered whether to xfer mine to a SAP school. You must like the culture there. It can be very regimental. Read feedback from some ex-students of one of the SAP schools. The article was very entertaining and enlightening. PM me if you want the URL. Cannot post it here. It's good to get insider news.

MY DD told her school friends and teacher that she is most probably not joining GEP. So I asked her if that was her decision but she told me no, as she did not want anybody to be angry with her for accepting GEP ,if she finally does decide the same.


We have to wait for the 16th to really confirm who is going or not.

Hi, need some advice. I heard from my son’s form teacher that children in GEP program will not be taught on maths & science syllables. The children will only be spending time on doing projects. & because of this, most GEP students couldn’t do well in PSLE. Is it true? No matter how gifted the children are, shouldn’t the GEP teachers also go through the maths & science topics? I couldn’t imagine how is my son going to know about digestive system if the teacher does not teach him & expect him to go in depth. Beside this, currently, when the children are in the mainstream, the teachers will let them practise maths & science assignments. Does that mean that in GEP, there’s no practise on such at all? Intend to send my son to Henry Park. Is there any parent with children in Henry Park to share your experience. worrying mum…

I heard of one case, stay at Katong, 1st choice ACS and 2nd choice CH. And he got in CH instead.

Is it true that all GEP students at Rosyth has to take HCL this yr ? my dd's chinese is ... ahem ... let's just say she translates everythg from english ...

Not to worry too much about HCL. At PSLE, the school will not force student to take HCL if the children opt out.
However the children will all study HCL during the course of three years.
During my boy's time, there are few of them did not take up HCL at PSLE.
In any case, HCL is for student to enroll into SAP School (Sec).
Hope this help to clarify.

Daddy gives us a long lecture on why academic excellence is not everything and does not guarantee success in life. Also, he has heard too much \"horror stories\" from friend whose child is in GEP. :idea:

She could go for the GEP tests coz I did the \"sneaky\" thing of signing the form and asking her to submit without showing the daddy.

Just give a contrasting view.
The son of my friend also got a chance into GEP.
However he turn it down
But this does not deter him to score 262 at PSLE, Platinum in Asia-Pacific Mathematical Olympiad, enrolled into one of the top Boy school, scoring nearly all A1 for all subjects and is school rep in gymnastics.
However it will be a pity to miss the opportunity not to enroll into GEP program.
The program open up window of opportunity more than just academic aspect.
