I guess all parties have to be vigilant - parents, teachers, care takers and even security guards. We have to keep reminding our children NOT to talk to strangers. By befriending some parents whose children attend the same school might help as we can always keep a lookout for one another’s child.

I have a 4 year old niece whom i spoke to last Sunday and when i warned her about the danger of following a stranger, she said her school teacher "said already" (her exact words!). So I guess some schools are stepping up some measures.

It is disturbing to read reports about these attempted abductions.

I also spoke to my child about this and she mentioned too that her teacher has spoken to the class.

My hub and I then gave her numerous scenarios. I mean what she knows is, some one, male or female, can forcefully take her away. But if say, this person came up to her and told her, \"You went shopping with your mummy right? She fell and she can't walk so she asked me to take you to her. Follow me.\" Then how? We went through several of such situations together and got her to repeat the actions she should take.

I am paranoid lah. In the past, I would think that it was time to let her go to the toilet on her own, like she would run ahead but now, I am not going to let her out of my sight.

I think because of these, nowdays, I seldom see kids left alone to read books at popular or even see less kids at playground or game arcade. Its better to be safe than sorry. I feel scare and worry too!

In some of the American videos posted here, the advice is to have a shared password with your child, so if a stranger comes along and says to follow her, the child should prompt the stranger for the password.

I was joking with DD,\"Can you tell the stranger \"Mummy says cannot tell strangers that my password is xxxxxx!\"\"? 😆

[quote]One day after a suspected kidnapping case happened in Ang Mo Kio Hub, a 10 year old boy was almost led away by a stranger outside his primary school!

The shocking incident happened along Simei Street 5 this Monday. A 59 year old aunty brought her ten year old grandson to school and left him at the entrance:

                http://temasektimes.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/prckidnap02.jpg

A few minutes later, she saw him being led away by a woman in her 40s towards a van. When confronted, the woman said it is a case of ‘mistaken identity’ and walked away as if nothing happened.

A police report was subsequently lodged, but the grandmother was told by the police officers that they never received such ‘complaints’ before.

The ‘modus operandi’ appears to be similar to a case in Hong Kong two weeks ago where a child was almost led away by a PRC woman to a van outside his primary school.

                  No police update means what?

                  Fake one?
                  CCTV spoilt?
                  Unsolved?
                  Not important?
                  :?

Sigh ... but nowadays, even within school premises also not safe anymore. Kids can be lured using a PSP. 😢 Sorry :offtopic:

If you never explain clearly, or specific... it sounds almost like...
                        \"Don't listen to Teacher\".
