MOE Relooking P1 registration - Too much priority to alumni
-
vicki:
No i am pretty sure, not speculation. The vacancy for phase 2A is up to individual school discretion. Very much depend on the strength of the alumni and the school belief in volunteering. Both schools that i have served the board will react very differently on this. Some school \"value alot\" on the alumni, that is based on my experience with the 2 schools.Since when is there a set vacancy for 2A?
Nowhere on MOE website states this.
I'm not sure which school board u are helping out n why you hve this mistaken thought though I am 101% sure I am not confused. I thk u are.
Alternatively, are u revealing somethg that is not supposed to be disclosed yet? -
Laughingcat, are u talking abt parents being accepted into the alumni club so that they can qualify for 2A1?
Even if these parents donβt join alumni, they can still make use of 2A2 (old boys old girls) to get into the school.
I dont see any difference between 2A1 n 2A2 - consider all of them as alumni whether paying members or non paying members.
N being under 2A - u are quite guaranteed a space as there is no limit.
We are talking abt a cap on 2A. I thk u are either talking abt a cap on alumni membership or I am not sure what other cap u are talking abt.
It will be good if u can confirm if the board limits the number of old boys old girls under 2A. I bet they donβt. Cos if they do, guaranteed to get complaints cos it is against MOE regulations. -
laughingcat:
Can't go thru 2A1, go via 2A2 lor - no difference in any case except that 2A1 must pay $ for some schools n 2A2 is free.Just for sharing on my alma mater school. In fact i didn't know of this until one of the forumer shared this and i went to confirm this with the board.
The vacancy for alumni in 1990 Pri 1 registration actually exceed what the school had specified. The NYPS board decided that they could not absorb all its alumni. The cut-off was outside 2 km and families with less than 3 children. They were rejected with no chance of ballot.
N it could only be your school that 'limits' 2A1 admission, although I do wonder why do they even bother cos you limit the alumni - they can still get right back in as old boys old girls in 2A2 mah - 'no qns asked'.
That is the reason why we would like the govt to announce a ruling to officially cap the 2A admission. -

Absolutely no.Laughingcat, are u talking abt parents being accepted into the alumni club so that they can qualify for 2A1?

So back to 'there is nowhere in the MOE website that limits/caps 2A except if 2A is fully subscribed - whereby the parents will then undergo balloting'

A very very real possibility - cos in my registration yr, for CHS, after 1 n 2A registration, there were only 18 spaces left to be spilt equally to 2B (9) n 2C (9), which is ridiculous! :yikes: -

[/quote]Slammed for limiting 2A1? As I said - go via 2A2 lor - 'bao jip' at the moment.

so what was the vacancy left for 2B and 2C for that year then? I am a bit confused here. -
:scratchhead:
1990?!!
The current system that goes P1, P2A1, P2A2, P2B, P2C, P3 etc starts from year 1998.......
