Just for sharing on my alma mater school. In fact i didn't know of this until one of the forumer shared this and i went to confirm this with the board.

The vacancy for alumni in 1990 Pri 1 registration actually exceed what the school had specified. The NYPS board decided that they could not absorb all its alumni. The cut-off was outside 2 km and families with less than 3 children. They were rejected with no chance of ballot.

Can't go thru 2A1, go via 2A2 lor - no difference in any case except that 2A1 must pay $ for some schools n 2A2 is free.

N it could only be your school that 'limits' 2A1 admission, although I do wonder why do they even bother cos you limit the alumni - they can still get right back in as old boys old girls in 2A2 mah - 'no qns asked'.

That is the reason why we would like the govt to announce a ruling to officially cap the 2A admission.

That particular year, the principal was kena slamed left right like nobody business. Indeed. πŸ˜‰

So back to 'there is nowhere in the MOE website that limits/caps 2A except if 2A is fully subscribed - whereby the parents will then undergo balloting'

A very very real possibility - cos in my registration yr, for CHS, after 1 n 2A registration, there were only 18 spaces left to be spilt equally to 2B (9) n 2C (9), which is ridiculous! :yikes:

so what was the vacancy left for 2B and 2C for that year then? I am a bit confused here.

                  1990?!!

                  The current system that goes P1, P2A1, P2A2, P2B, P2C, P3 etc starts from year 1998.......

                  :skeptical:

aiyo, really, wasting so much ink arguing on alumni

the alumni problem affects only ACS, and recently CHS, and long time ago once affected NYPS, recently NYPS no problems on alumni with intake of 390, even after reducing from intake size of 420 due to single session school

actually ACS and CHS can solve the alumni problem by increasing one more class

talk as if the whole singapore all got alumni problems…if anyone noticed at all, most schools alumni phase of registration are having few take up, really pak bang on those days of registration

this system from phase 1 to 3 started long time ago, back in 1980s.
