You can consider this IP camera, it is much cheaper than CCTV and easier to use and to monitor your maid.

You can set motion detection to record and send emails alert to you.

I had cameras at home and my maid is aware of it, she also use it to communicate with me. Camera is to monitor the situation at home when u are not around, not to peek at her privacy or catch her abusing child. If you tell the maid the purpose, she would behave herself knowing you're watching her.

If you are thinking of installing one, I suggest IP camera rather than CCTV, which is cheaper, easier to use, and more suitable. Many install CCTV but never turn on, or turn on but nvr watch, coz is too tiring to watch the video. With IP camera, you can watch it anytime anywhere u like, set motion detection to record only when there's movement detected. See this website:

You can set password to the camera, is possible to hack in tough same like all internet related equipment but i'm not worry. When I'm at home, I off the camera, when I'm not around, I on it and monitor, so far no one break into SG house becoz of CCTV leakage I think.

In fact, I given the link of my living room to my friend and sister, sometimes my sister will check the link to see if i'm at home, to me, they're helping me to monitor my house 🙂
Most importantly is, set password to your MBR camera, off it when u back home, you know what i mean? hahaha.......

I have camera in my Hse and I think it serves as a deter rather than to catch. By the time the camera catches the maid doing something it will be too late. Example if you catches the maid slapping your child, and you rush home straightaway it will be too late. It’s better to prevent it from happening in the first place. Tell the maid you have a camera at home. Ask her don’t meddle with it.

With the camera my maid was more on the ball. One day I caught her turning the camera angle. I couldn’t view a thing, I was so mad I tell her not to touch it. She told me she was cleaning it. Good excuse. But when the maid works for u too long, the camera will not solve your other issues with the maid like answering you in a rude manner. Talking back etc

Can't your camera tilt? My camera can tilt and turn 360 degree and i can adjust it remotely from IPhone or from my office computer or any explorer with internet connection. This is why I like my camera very much and only costs me $140 per piece without any subscription cost or maintenance cost.

Does it mean I need one for every room?

For me I put one each in my living room, master bedroom, and kids room. I can also move the camera as and when I want, as long as there's powerpoint will do, it function on wireless. You can mount to wall if you want, the mount is provided but for me i prefer to just leave it on the table and i can easily remove it when I don't need maid next time.
the screen can view 9 camera maximum, is very convenient to monitor my house using these cameras.
