Jennifer:
Actually that remark could be for some students who are such good students that the teacher has no issue to raise except to praise.
Some teachers will say \"I dun need to meet your parents\".AnotherKiasu:
Parent-Teachers meeting is scheduled on 14th April saturday from 8:30 AM. Have received appointment sheet to book slots for the teachers you want to meet.
Are you planning to meet all subject teachers or just the personal mentor (class teacher)?
Principal group meeting is at 11:00 AM.
The teachers probably want to see those parents whose kids tend to have an issue(read problems!).
From the years of experience I have, I find a few minutes with the teachers doesn't reveal much, esp for upper secondary. Worse is to wait/queue for hours, just to speak to the teacher for a few minutes.
Just my 2 cents.

[/quote]NJC cohort for JH is small, usu. no need to wait for hours.
Even if the teacher has no issue, parents should still meet the teacher when they see the teacher shaking legs while waiting for students & parents to arrive. Reason being: we can find out more on various programmes available. Knowing the available programmes mean the child can have a clearer idea of what are available and how to go abt increasing the chances the child gets into the programme. -

Agreed. The teachers will definitely have something to say about students - good or bad and continuous improvement steps, if any. So, it's better to hear from them. Also, it's good time to clarify our doubts and to know about available and proposed programmes. -
My girl told me she could not get any slot from any teacher. They said all their slot are filled.
so what does that means? I do not need to meet any of the teacher?
Very disappointed with the way they handle such incident. Couldn’t more days be allocated to meet-the-parent session? I only need to meet her Mentor and MT teacher that’s all.
So that means that day I just go for the principal talk at 11am while other parents happily chit chat with their kid teachers … sigh … -

Just go earlier. There surely will be free slots (created by parents who are late) among some teachers.
Time slots are usu. reserved for students who are not doing too well among the cohort. Your child is not among the teachers' priority list to meet=> your child is doing ok.
For the past two years, my boy had not been able to get some teachers to agree to meet us. We just went n introduced ourselves when we saw the teacher not engaged with anyone. Of course we also must be considerate and keep the session really short.
Apart from the meet-the-parents sessions, the school sometimes conducts briefings for parents regarding some issues. Though the timing can be quite awkward (evening hours), it is best to make time to attend.
Or get your child to get hold of the mobile number of the teachers you would like to speak to. -

Thanks for the advice!

Actually so far, the Personal Mentors usually give all parents their email and handphone numbers, and readily reply SMS and emails - usually within that day. Often within the same morning. It's way easier to get a reply from them either SMS/Email then via the General Office.

Oh… Now getiing a slot also difficult.
Just now sent SMS to DS to show the letter and get time slot. Not sure will get or not. If not, call or mail is the only way left.
PAACT have AGM on the same day 9:00 AM. Any PAACT members attending? -
Is there any report card (like Primary) we will be receiving for this concluded Term 1?
My DS tell the marks here and there, IH project this much, IS group project this much, LA class test this much, etc. But so far not a consolidated one, like each subject how much total for 100 or in terms of GPA.
Any seniors can advise? Thx. -
Yes, you will receive a interim progress report before the PTM showing the Marks (in %), Percentile, Cohort mean, Grade, % Assessed and Credit for each subject. At the end of the report, there is also the Interim GPA & Percentile of Interim GPA.
