All About Getting Priority Registration

I am referring to several of my friends who are holding top professional. A child is a SC with only one parent convert to SC. The other remain as PR. This is true. They also received baby bonus! Ha! Ha!
Oh yes, I do have friends like that. One couple is from Myanmar. Another couple from Thailand. But situation exactly the same!
So they are the ones who enjoyed the best of both world. Hubby refuse to convert, wife convert. So hubby PR, wife SC, son also SC.
They got our new flats coz they are entitled to apply just like SC. Was told that now, after 4 yrs, the value doubled.
they got the baby bonus and that tax rebate too. Just like any other sporeans. And yet they get to invest in properties and lands in their own country becoz the hubby is still a citizen of their country.
Smart leh...
Ask if we can invest in his country too, since its so much cheaper than spore. he told me \" Hahahaa foreigners are not welcome to invest, foreigners will need to pay hefty tax and pay a high price. Hahahaa....\"
So such people are the one who benefits from both countries coz our govt give them as much subsidies and priority as our SCs. To our govt, so long as u have 1 SC in your family, u are one of us!!
Dont forget that the said countries and other countries also do not welcome our children to study in their public school. I am still not at peace when MOE told me that as long as the child is a SC, they will enjoy the priority. The parents dont need to be SC which I am quite puzzled. The figures does not gives us the guarantee. There are many PRs even if one of the spouse is SC. This is not absolute priority given to us. -
phtthp:
i wonder if our govt has any future intention to make it compulsory new rule such that :-
only when 2 PR parents convert then only can the child become a pure SC ?
in short, whole family must convert.
ie. get rid of impure SC
They should do it now and not in the future. As the news reported that Singaporean will be given absolute priority for the 2012 P1 registration. They should specify clearly, what they mean Singaporean. The pure SC or the impure SC (half PR / half SC parent with a SC child)? I am only 10% happy and not 100% happy with the news. -
zakashi:
That is why they quoted that only 10 % of the PR are affected. Coz the impure SC is still considered as a SC, will get the same priority as us.phtthp:

I believe if they define the rule better, as to give priority to SC with SC parents, I am sure our chances of getting into our choice schools will be higher.
No one can be certain that they will definitely get into the choice schools, since it's only 10% of the people we are having priority over.
And if out of these 10%, some of them involve in PV or grassroots, then they will still have absolute priority over us.
If only all the schools support locals and only get SC to PV, that will be great. As the criteria for volunteering is not transparent, the school can also purposely select PR to PV so they can eventually
join the schools to increase diversity of the school demographic. There is nothing we can do? :stupid: -

You must bear in mind that some schools may not have enough PVs if they relies solely on SC.If only all the schools support locals and only get SC to PV, that will be great. As the criteria for volunteering is not transparent, the school can also purposely select PR to PV so they can eventually

You are referring to non popular school.

for next change of rules, suggest MOE tighten up loop holes:-
a) for popular, branded schools - whole family to convert to SC.
Abolish \"half PR, half SC\" parents to give their PR child SC status so easily.
Right now, this group of PR can still come in readily and compete directly head on with us, pure SC parents.
b) fine tune definition on the word, \"absolute Priority\".
it should mean and reflect \"absolute priority for SC - throughout the Entire P1 Registration process\". ie. Phase 1 to 2C solely reserved only for SC kids.
Then create a new phase called \"2D\" - admit next round of PR kids, fill up remaining vacancies (if any).
NOT just \"absolute priority of SC over PR - within each phase\" only. -

even only 1 parent convert with the kids, the kids(boys) will still need to serve NS, so fair lah...
exactly. I don't understand why people want to be so discriminatory and use words like \"pure\" and \"impure\". sounds almost like hitler. -
phtthp:
yes, this is true. they are very strict now. must whole family convert together.so now stricter ?
require BOTH parents converted into SC, then child can become SC ?
if both parents apply but leave out the child (usually because they don't want to commit him to NS), they will also reject the application. -
Yes, it is good that it is more stricter as the law requires the family to become SC. What about this coming 2012 P1 registration? Do they require both the parents and child to be SC before they are given absolute priority? I doubt so for I have found out the answer very clearly. It really bothers me. I really hope that KS parents will take action by investigating this issue.
