emoh:
Thanks for correction.
SJI IP, 2013 Year 1 has 125 seats not 80 seats.

Our nearest mrt is bukit batok or new hillview mrt at in laws place. Accessible? Thanks[/quote]If your child is going to be Sec 1 in 2013, then its the present Malcolm Road site which should be quite convenient from Bukit Batok.
SJI Holding Site for 2014/2015 is rumoured to be at ITE Bishan. Should be quite convenient since its next to the MRT. Got circle line that goes to the west, where do you stay ?emoh:

I am looking at sji o level since it is a band 1 o level sch. Getting into ip wl be a bonus. But distance now is an issue.
2014/2015 maybe can take MRT from Bukit Batok to Bishan (abt 40 mins) as the rumoured holding site is within walking distance from Bishan MRT.
2016 onwards can take the new downtown line, 6 stations from Hillview to Stevens which would be within walking distance to the Malcolm Road site. -

Ya, have checked n spoke to husband. Bukit batok to bishan plus walking from home to station n station to sch, is about 1 hour. Quite managable IMO. Sch usually starts at what time? 2016 onwards although via in laws place hillview line is faster, we'll go from home with 187 to phoenix lrt n 190 to sch should be about 45min...
Great to know that.
My boy going sec 1 in 2015. Paisay so kiasu me.
paisay to ot in this for sec1 next year thread. Had spoke to him on n off about it n his initial reservations about boys sch Is he worried about rowdiness n bully cases. My impression on sji boys are that as a mission sch, their character building programme should be strong so told him that he shouldn'T have the misconception that boys sch have higher incidence of bullying. Hope my judgement is accurate.
he prefers non sap n dual track n I want boys sch. So far this fits our bill as something attainable. -
Essential:
DS prefer boys school too . May try ACS I
Good Luck! We are trying Catholic High. ACS I is too far for us. RI might not have chance, COP is very high. -
LindaYong:
My boy does not do higher Chinese & we are aiming for Catholic High too. If your son gets merit for HCL, he will get 2 bonus points which will give him a better chance to get in CH.Cathalic High, I understand is a SAP school, does it means that if my son did not do well for his higher Chinese (merit) than he can't get in?
Anyone know how many classess will it take for its IP in 2013? It joins with SCGS & St Nic for its IP, as all three school has their own Primary School, thus it mean the chnace for outsider will be less? -
jedamum:
Ok, school starts around 7.25am/7.30am for flag raising. If from bukit batok u can take bus 66 and alight at SCGS after raffles town club. otherwise bus 985 goes by PIE and alight at CJC to change bus to SJI.

Thanks emoh on the alternative bus route.

My daughterโs school will be at temp premise in Toa Payoh. If my son goes to SJI and it moves to bishan in 2014, both of them will be at temp holding schools. Quite convenient to send them to school.

My son told me about SJI open house on 14/4. If my son goes to SJI, the distance home (upper Bukit Timah) will be long, especially at upper sec when school ends later.
I want an all boys, non SAP school, non IP. What are my options ? -

I think only have these boys schools left:My son told me about SJI open house on 14/4. If my son goes to SJI, the distance home (upper Bukit Timah) will be long, especially at upper sec when school ends later.

Secondary Schools:
ANGLO-CHINESE SCHOOL (BARKER ROAD)
MONTFORT SECONDARY SCHOOL
ST. ANDREW'S SECONDARY SCHOOL
ST. GABRIEL'S SECONDARY SCHOOL
ST. PATRICK'S SCHOOL
VICTORIA SCHOOL
So SJI would still be a good choice. Actually Upper Bukit Timah is not that far considering that the present SJI site is actually just off Bukit Timah/Dunearn. Once the downtown line opens in 2015 and SJI shifts back for the start of 2016, it should be even faster.
