moonee, why don't you ask your agent to pick up your maid from your home? Your agent can send a runner and supervise her packing her things and escort her out of your home. They can also escort her to the airport and make sure she boards the plane. The runners have a lot of experience dealing with such cases. And if they're the same nationality as your maid they can persuade them to leave quietly.

I did give that a thought but the last time they picked up my maid, they had to get a relative... i understand they are quite shorthanded neverthless I will try asking. Ive already told my maid that she can go back to the agent anytime she wants and she can request a transfer frm them ....Dont think she will be as shocked as the last 2 times cos I did mention that I cant hold her for long if she continue messing up the house and damaging my things. Anyway the agent will handle her once I send her back. I will also be taking the other maid so I still have to be there. Tks again Jtoh 😄

You're welcome, moonee. Good luck with your new maid. 🙂

thx jtoh n moonee… its the brand that u can buy over the counter…i cant recall the brand…

im giving her vitamins for now n ask her to adhere to the breakfast\lunch\dinner timings and other schedule…

she tends to do things real slow(new to the pace here especially in ‘multi-tasks’) n that might also b the contributing factor of not having enough rest?

but she is improving now…n i hope she continues n
when my 3rd child goes to upper primary i want to opt for maid-free !

i am getting ‘tired’ of having to train the maids…

If I may offer my 2 cents ....

I find that we have to train the maids. It is imperative. Even when it is claimed that they have experience, their level of hygiene is questionable.

My experience with them so far has made me realize that if I put in the time and effort to train them thoroughly from square 1 as to how I want them to clean my flat, plus monitor them like a hawk for about a couple of mths, thereafter reduce the monitoring but never stop. Hence it will be difficult for them to skive because they know that you are watching and questioning them - nicely. I know that many of you mummies are working, so that may not always be possible, but if you can, I do believe many of you will reap the rewards of your time invested in your maids. And I am assuming that you have (major) problem free maids here.

My current maid, though ex-Singapore with 2 yrs experience, did not pass my standard of housework. She was also forgetful. I had to train her all over again, paste notes all over the flat to remind her of her chores, how and when to do it etc .... But she is slowly improving. It is going to be almost a month. I reckon it will be 3 mths b4 she is fully comfortable with the tasks she is assigned to. The saving grace is that her attitude is good and she tries to work hard, so I refrain from reprimanding her but explain the rationale behind my tasks to
her. I also capitalize on the fact that she is engaged and so remind her that whatever safety measures I am teaching her wrt to taking care of my son, she can make use of the knowledge to take care of her kids in future. Ditto with the standard of hygiene.

I know it's tough mummies, but hang in there as am I cuz I too am hoping to go maid-less when my kids are older.

              :hugs:

I previously said my maid indicated to us via a note that she will leave asap, as she does not like being a maid… She has finally left yest, but not without much saga… One week before our 3 days’ holiday, she declared that that day is her last day of being in loan, and she will not work anymore. The agent has to remind that she needs to give one week’s notice and persuade her nicely before she agreed to stay till Apr 15 till our new maid comes in.

On sun night, I caught her loitering downstairs at AMK central near my mum’s house when we will all rushing to finish dinner so that my 3 yr and 1 yr old babies can sleep early. When I gave her a black face (note: not even scolding her), she lied that she was queuing up to buy a drink for me and the queue was very long. I told her that I saw she collected my drink long time ago from afar, just that I never called out to her. She said, very good, so I was watching her and declared she wants to leave immediately. We have to get police to stop her from leaving. When I told her i can only returned her handphone at agency next morning, she also cursed me as she went to my toilet to take a bath? At the agency, she falsely accused us of giving her 3 days’ ago food when she was the one to keep hoarding food in the fridge (cos she refused to finish them if it is not to her liking). And when the agency asked her why she never tell us the food is spoilt, she said she dnt like to beg… Such attitude…do we still have to pay for her airticket home? Sigh

Hi!! MY mynmar maid's contract will be expiring in early Dec..

Me & hubby would like to renew contract with her, & tentatively she said ok,
thus I need to find out what are the procedures involved for renewing contract for mynmar maid..
Her work permit is until 2nd Dec.
I planning to let her go back for home visit before work permit expires..
& thus intend to let her go back in 2nd week of Nov, for 3weeks,
& wants her to be back before 2nd Dec..
                  Then renew her work permit..
                  Is this right?
When she goes back for home leave, we pay for her air tickets, right?
then do we still pay her salary when she is not around?
need to do anything at mynmar embassy?

Thanks in advance for any advice 🙂

                    Absolutely agree with you.
You had a problem but you did something about it and it worked. It is slow and painful. Saw in another blog where problems exists. However the posters were just complaining about their problems and just lament instead of indicating what they CAN do (as suggested by another blogger).

Another poster gave some good advice about looking for things to do instead of seeing yourself as the \"victim\" and not doing anything at all.

Unfortunately \"advice\" given to these people were more focused on not wanting to make these people feel bad.

Sure they do not feel bad because they want someone to rescue them from being the \"victim\" but it does not help them to solve their own problems.

I am learning. Thanks for the information
I guess when a maid tells you she wants to leave, it mean she wants to leave. Trying to keep them causes more problems for us. Am glad she did not create bigger problems for you.

Yes, we realise that we should have sent her home when she sent me a defiant note just 2 weeks after I reprimanded her for lieing and refusing to mop the area under the sofa. Once she finished her loan, all her colors came out and it became such an unhappy affair for us all. We should never have endured her black face all this while, sigh…
