yes yes! That was exactly what my PD told me. she said that nose bridges for young kids are wider, and the bridge will grow higher and narrower as they grow up, and she told me is nothing of concern. However, I’ve met a few mummies recently, and all of them made similar comments about the closeness of his eyeball towards the nose bridge, therefore it just struck me that it might be good to affirm this earlier than later. I do hope my son is just like yours after the eye doctor check.

Thanks full.cream for the article on lazy eye. It seems like a lazy eye might not necessarily be a deviated eye.

Don’t really know any good paediatric eye specialist, saw KK have a child eye clinic, will be checking that out soon.

I just brought DD1 for refractive eye check recently coz we suspected that she has some form of squint.

Like from your experience, the paed optimologist said exactly the same thing - that it is the wide bridge...and they'd outgrow this. DD1 is 7 by the way...since there's a family history (yours truly is just a breath away from being legally blind :oops: ), will check every 6 months although the recommendation is 1 year unless you see significant changes.

Anyone has any similar experience? We thought it might put us more at ease to bring him to a Paedetric eye specialist earlier, anyone has good doctor to recommend?

I would recommend Children's Eye Clinic at the KK Hosp. DD2 had \"lazy eye\" and astigmatism when she was about 3 years old. We brought her to KKH for check-up and she had to do eye patch; ie patch the good eye so that the \"lazy\" eye is forced to work and strengthen its muscles. After 3 years on the prog, her lazy eye is minimised. However, astig is still there, but that's heredity - must be mine and DH's \"bad\" genes.

Go to the poly clinic 1st and get a referral letter if you want to pay a cheaper consultation fee at KKH. The downside is that the waiting time for a doctor's appt is rather long. In the end, we skipped poly clinic and went to Eye Clinic at KKH direct. Did not want to waste time since DD's eye more impt.

Btw, we did not go to private specialist as we did not know who to turn to, so decided on KKH. Quite happy with their service and professionalism.

Is reading or writing near the window ok? No direct sunlight though. I don’t know where is the best place to read and write. Thought of buying a table lamp for my kids… which brand is the best? And mum in law says that the direct light from the lamp is not too good for the eyes too. True?

He is not 2 years old, he has no problem aiming for an item that he needs to pick up. but we still find he looks a little \"cock-eye\", and afraid it might be case of lazy eyes or something.

Yes, I heard it has polarizing light or something like that. It's explained at the Wish List thread in the Kiasu Acutions forum. I think it will also be available for auction this month. Maybe Chief can confirm this?

We will be offering the Panasonic inverter lamp for auction, NOT the 3M. The inverter lamp uses electronics to control the flicker rate while the 3M uses a filter to polarize light to control the flicker. Both should be end up with the same result - less flicker, less strain on the eyes.
