I'm a student in nush so feel free to ask questions about nush. dsa, workload, difficulty of tests, go ahead! just write in this topic and i'll try to answer. btw i'm year 1 so don't ask about specialisation and stuff like that. i aint got no idea. Good luck to those in dsa!

So far how do you find the school work ? I understand some of the students had difficulty coping with Math .... I heard the topic on geometry is right now at the 'highest' level. There are a few that can't complete their assignments on time too. This week there is a IH test too. The Math Olympiad homework this week also very tough. Even the Math Olympiad 'pro' in my DS1's class also can't solve some of the questions ....

IH test was ok. The math olympiad was crazy, yes, you're right. By the way, for those who are struggling with math, go to http://www.khanacademy.com. Trust me, i tried it and it works wonders. In fact, I understand it better than the teacher! Anyway, school work is okaaaay..... When the projects come it's gonna be a crazy rush, but so far, not too bad. They say it would be worse next time! :nailbite:
Thanks, will ask DS1 to try. So far, DS1 says workload it's ok, can manage, just like you said, if not, next time will be worse !

Hi "Dagong99",

DS said OM is not tough.
Just ask your DS to send the OM questions he felt were "very tough".
Not sure what you meant by "tough"??

Oh, :imsorry: I should have used a simpler word, what I meant is \"difficult, not easy\", especially for those who do not have Math Olympiad training before or those who skip the lesson for Open House.

Hi "Dagong99",

It’s ok.
My DS said not difficult either.
If no prior OM training at all, it’s quite tough to swim in this school.

Hi \"Gravityguy\",

Coooool...........
Did you receive the Letter for Friday the 13th?
Hi there
Firstly, I feel kinda offend of behalf of \"gravityguy\". He a year 1 kid who wants to share how his life at school is. Asking him his physics marks seems likes you will based how much you value his advise simply based on his marks (note: I did not say intelligence as marks are not an accurate reflection of intelligence). Asking him if he was a recipient of any award for speech day just confirms my perspective of your intentions. Perhaps you did not mean it this way. If so, please clarify as your blunt phrasing of the question leads me to believe that you are being 'elitist'.

Secondly, NO year 1 student is a speech day awardee. The award are based on the previous year's performance so how could you even think that gravityguy was a speech day awardee. I would have expected you to be more well informed with a child in the school.

Hi "Sun_2010",

You are overly sensitive & serious. Just trying to make friend and communication.
Am thinking THAT "Friday the 13th" where kids are aware.
Do not need to interpret anyway, as there is nothing to interpret
in this intuitive question.Just make friend, relax!
HAPPY EASTER!!

Hi Coddington, gravityguy,All

My DS is P6 this year . Applied for NUSH . Very keen to join NUSH. He is in Eienstien Club (he was one of the top 20 in NMOS 2011). Regarding Selection test.

* What kind of science related questions to expect.
* Any sample questions types you can recall about.

Good in Maths but ok for Science. Please help.

Those without OM...

I think with or without OM, if your kids want to give it a shot, just do it. Many with OM have gotten in and I'm sure there are those without have also made it.

Remember, other than the written test, they are also look at many aspects of an individual during the camp. I know there are some with OM, pass the written tests but couldn't make it after the camp.

If you look at the website carefully, questions given are base on Science and Math general knowledge i.e. it covers way beyond textbook knowledge. If you have been diligently reading every post in this thread, some students who are already in the school shared about there is no way to prepare for the tests. It is all about \"having it\". So, may I suggest that as parents, we allow our kids to just try it out, don't deny them but at the same time, accept what comes after. πŸ˜„
