Normally there’ll more pupils getting into GEP from GEP schools. My guess is either the parents of those kids from RGPS are not active participants in the forum or they are not the kan chiong type.

Maybe turquoise may wish to enlighten us on this.

Unfortunately I have no idea how many in P3 made it through to GEP. I think the P3 parents would have a better idea. I think in my dd's year about 12-15 RGPS girls made it to GEP.

About 20% of total GEP students, yes. But if you consider that RGPS has 400 students in P3 (in my dd's time when class sizes were still about 40 per class), then the number making it to GEP is just 4%.

Anyone attending P1 orientation on 21st Nov? What time does the performance start?

My P1 girl brought back a letter last night informing us that she is offered HMT next year in P2. But she has to reach school by 11am to attend the 1hr HMT lesson once a week.


I find it quite difficult for working parents and thinking of not signing her up for P2 HMT. The letter also mentioned that students who do well in P2 MT will still have a chance to get into HMT in P3. By then my girl will be in AM session and she can take the school bus home in the afternoon.

Will she feel deprived? Any parents here facing the same issue as me?

Personally I find no hurry to take HMT in P2 since you can still take it in P3 if P2 results is good.


There is no sch bus in mid morning. Unless you have someone to bring your girl to attend the 11am lesson.

I guess this is new directive from the new principal since many schs have HMT from P1.

That's what I didn't understand too...if the girls need to go through a selection at P3, and \"repeated yearly\" per the circular, then why not get ALL girls to go through HMT from P1 and select them at P4 or P5 for PSLE?

KSP, I'm letting my girl try although we speak little or zilch MT at home. She's keen to do so and we're that the interest is maintained. :love:

I don't think is based on a fixed cutoff point. The top 80 in SA2 CL are offered. This will repeat every year (I think) till P5. I find it kind of not so healthy for the kids especially if one gets in one year but out the other year if not in the top 80 list.

It is band 2, 75 marks & above. Not top 80 students.


As to one yr in & another yr out, this one need to ask teacher.
