If the husband wants to divorce, can the wife do something to stop it? I am referring to can the wife put up a case to the judge to say she doesn’t want to divorce? Or a divorce will certainly end up dissolving the marriage in due time? Is there no way one party can stop it?

Nobody says anything… Does it really mean that there’s nothing much to do except accept whatever the judge decides? I mean I am aware of the usual - go counseling, try to work things out between the couple, see a lawyer and prepare evidence to best protect one’s interest etc.


But this friend I know wants to keep the marriage in tact and the family together but the husband wants to divorce, sell the family flat. It’s quite depressing to hear her story…

as far as my understanding goes, as long as have examples to share can file under unreasonable behaviour or irreconcile-able (dunno how to spell) differences liao - unlike adultery needs to prove. from my fren’s case, husband refuse to divource, she went for separation for x years then dun need mutual consent also can divource liao.

Hee understand. For filing under unreasonable behavior or unreconciable differences, it's not going to be immediate divorce right? I.e. Must go thru x number of years. But for those grounds which needs proof, eg adultery, can immediately dissolve the marriage?

if a couple has decided to divorce, what happens to the flat?
sell back to hdb?
if one party wants to buy over the other party’s flat share (to buy over the flat), does he/ she buy from hdb, according to the current market price?
does the hdb loan also follow the current rate?
