Nobody says anything… Does it really mean that there’s nothing much to do except accept whatever the judge decides? I mean I am aware of the usual - go counseling, try to work things out between the couple, see a lawyer and prepare evidence to best protect one’s interest etc.

But this friend I know wants to keep the marriage in tact and the family together but the husband wants to divorce, sell the family flat. It’s quite depressing to hear her story…

Thanks... But this article is for USA. Is it also applicable here (on the idea of unreconciling differences)?

as far as my understanding goes, as long as have examples to share can file under unreasonable behaviour or irreconcile-able (dunno how to spell) differences liao - unlike adultery needs to prove. from my fren’s case, husband refuse to divource, she went for separation for x years then dun need mutual consent also can divource liao.

PS: I am not a lawyer - all based on hearsay. please seek legal advice if need be hor.

Hee understand. For filing under unreasonable behavior or unreconciable differences, it's not going to be immediate divorce right? I.e. Must go thru x number of years. But for those grounds which needs proof, eg adultery, can immediately dissolve the marriage?

Aiyah, I meet this person who has marriage woes almost daily. See her so gek sim, I also feel sad.

Every family has their own story (Direct translation from chinese saying)

For those who are happy, please count your blessings and always remember to not take one another for granted.

For those who are unhappy, life is too short to focus on the unhappy stuff.
There are more important things to look at. Focus on that which is important and happy.

                  hi,

would like to find out more abt divorce proceedings.
if a couple has decided to divorce, what happens to the flat?
                  sell back to hdb?
if one party wants to buy over the other party’s flat share (to buy over the flat), does he/ she buy from hdb, according to the current market price?
does the hdb loan also follow the current rate?

                  thank you.

I am a mother with a five year old kid. Thinking of getting a divorce but hubby dun agree to it. We no longer have sexual intimacy and is no longer sleeping together on the same bed. He is now sleeping on the floor. He used to have an affair with his assistant two years ago. I wish to divorce him now, what should I do ?

If you really want to divorce is so simple just ask the man to sleep separately on another room within the same household.

Within the separation period of > 4 years you can file for divorce with total annulment even if he disagree with you.

You better be sure you are financially sound, that your kid 5 years old is not sufferring with you.
