May I know will there be SA1 and Final Exam (SA2) or all will be replaced by Common Test? Just seen the Common Test 2 for sec.1 and does that mean there will be no SA1? The common test schedule seems to start very early leaving not much time for revision.

I’m not sure if there’s sa1 but there’s gonna be a final exam I think. and yeah I agree, there’s no time for revision and the teachers aren’t preparing us very well either.. -

There is no SA1. There are 3 Common Tests and 1 EYE only. The common test schedule is actually very reasonable. I never felt that the tests were too near in my sec one year, and now that I'm in sec two, I'm still able to cope well.
About 3 weeks left to CT2 is actually quite an okay duration to prepare. ^^
Frequent revision helps. -
Thank you for your reply.
Think my daughter spent too much time on her photo and av club cca. It's more like joining 2 cca (photo on Wed and av on Thurs) and sometimes Sat. need to go back. Also next week need to stay back till late on 3 days for Speech Day.
By the time she reached home (Tampines), it's very late and not much time left after her homework. She wakes up daily at 5am.livewith_vanilla:

Think most of the CCAs take up 2 days and sometimes Sat. those involved in competitions stay back almost everyday. my dd came back after 930pm the other day. :faint:

I think the key is to be consistent in their work. If the girls do their work on time and faithfully, it is part of ongoing revision. Very often lessons go on till the very day before a test or exam. In sec sch, it's difficult to find a long stretch of time where the lessons have been completed and one does revision. Any doubt, clarify with the teachers asap. -
Guess we just have to accept it. Personally I quite regretted it as maybe should convinced her to choose a nearer sch like Anglican. At least the distance travelled won't take up too much time.

It’s actually normal for Cedarians to wake up at 5am-6am and reach home at 6pm-7pm. Most CCAs are twice a week, ending at around 5.30-6 pm.
AV & Photography is not really considered as a time-consuming, taxing CCA. The track and field girls and performing arts girls have it worse. -
Hi
I attended the Cedar Open House last Saturday & liked the school. But reading from this thread I came to know they give more emphasize on Maths & Sc rather than English. Is it true ?
I am concern as my daughter is strong in English and her passion for English is remarkable.
Also is there any school bus available for Cedar ? -

Hi, I am in Cedar, currently in Sec 2 and for me, I didn't really feel the difference in emphasis for the subjects! There are math periods everyday (for Sec 2s, at least, i'm not sure about the Sec 1s...) because we have to take A Math in sec 3. They definitely still give emphasis to Eng! I'm an english person too, I got an A* in PSLE for Eng. But fear not, they emphasize in Eng. Just slightly more in Math & Sci because these are the harder(?) subjects. For eng there's drama and stuff, so it's really fun and cool.Hi

And there's bus services in the morning.
Even if you live in Marine Parade.
Hope this helped!
