Hope you can help.
There is a section on Mental sum in Math curriculum. May I know whether the child need to know some basic mental calculation to cope with such subject? Do I need to send my child to any form of abacus or kumon training to deal with such? Will my child be disadvantage if my child has no such training? Are many children attending abacus or some form of mental calculation training? Thank you.

My child did not attend any math enrichment. All I did was some + & - for him to do on weekend. He has no problem with math. He is in p3 this year.

At p1, the school arranged a model drawing workshop for parents to attend. I think it was helpful. I learn a lot from the workshop.

Hi, my girl did not go for any abacus class or even any enrichment on Maths. I think the mental sum questions are quite easy, up to their current level, not advanced like abacus, so not to worry too much.

Hi, I'm registering my boy at Nan Hua under Phase 2A2 this July. However, I stay super far from the school at Khatib and works near Commonwealth mrt. Can anyone suggest good afterschool care? I will fetch him from afterschool care before 7pm. Hopefully, the afterschool care is near mrt as I do not drive.


I've already called the bus company and there's no school bus from Yishun to the school. I'm thinking of getting a cab and sending him to school before going to work as I need to reach my workplace by 7.10am. The nearest school, Naval Base, from my home is two bus stops away but it looks like that school is not a popular choice. Another option is Chongfu but I don't want to give up a confirm place at Nan Hua to try my luck at Chongfu. This is such a difficult decision to make. Anyone has any suggestion?

There is student care service in the school campus itself, called Nascans. It is convenient for the kids to go right after school and CCA.

Yah, you can put ur child in the after school care within Nanhua. Totally understand ur dilemma! I stay in Woodlands, all nearby pri school need to ballot within 1km. End up also decided to go for confirmed seat at NanHua. If you nvr PV at ChongFu & Northland, really need a lot of luck during balloting.

Hi, there were two letters before the end of term 1 indicating that P1 will be having show and tell for English and Oral for Chinese in term 2.

But so far nvr receive any grading for these 2. Anyone received? Or it will be shared with parents when we go meet teachers (likely end May)?
