After awhile when this blows over, don't think people will remember her. This reminds me of previously a gal from temasek poly called Tammy. She had sex with her boyfriend in her bedroom and everything was recorded in the Hp. The Hp was lost and the video went viral. Wasn't that a big news too? We were also wondering how is she gonna cope. But I can tell you right now I don't even remember her face.

So I believe the same thing will apply to this case.
We may have forgotten, but do you think the girl can so easily forget the things that were said about her?

We, can move on as it has no impact on us, we are unaffected as we are not involve. But did we stop think about how our words would affect these people and their families? All most of us wanted to do was to dig out the identity of the girl and find out all the juicy bits and gossip.

The girls mentioned - did they have the maturity to think thru their act?
Do they know who is the one who is truly going to be hurt in the end?
They think they are smart - can fool mum, they are cool - can do adult stuff, they think they are brave beause they dare - but DO they do they really realise what they are upto ? I dont think so .

If some men decide to take advantage of them - how easy , just how easy it would be? especially if there were no onus on the men.

Well, it seems pretty one-sided to me. Loads of sympathy for pretty egregious behaviours, and the men....all predators yes?

Men taking advantage? I wonder....

I know where you and Chen stand on this, and I know where I stand, and so be it. But I know if my boys get entrapped (God forbid) in the future, despite everything I do, then they are culpable and face up to the music, but I'm not buying 'innocent naive girl' story for a single second.

That is because you don't have daughters. Pushed to the extreme, the image of women (and young girls) as Temptress is an excuse to perpetuate all sorts of atrocities towards women... including female genital mutilation so that women will not experience sexual pleasure.

All through my 20s and up to late 30s, I've had my fair share of indecent propositions from men (without actively strategising for it). It was unpleasant and irritating at some points... and contributed to low grade stress that I thankfully no longer need to deal with.

The view from a mature woman's perspective is very different. It does not mean it has no validity... and it does not mean you are wrong. Thankfully, we have hokkiengirl, sun, funz etc... who CAN represent the perspective of mature women with duaghters, because if this thread contained only the male perspective, it would be a very one-sided thread.
Much needs to be done to educate our daughters. Keeping the virginity for the one she marries is not just respecting herself. It speaks a lot about her. A man who truly loves her will respect her.

That's true. couldn't agree more.. 😉

We all know that not everyone gets educated the same... different PARENTS... different schools.... different streams... different quality of education.

Do you think this 17 year old had a Mother like me?
what you typed have no relevance to what I wrote or quote leh..

I hafta agree with 3Boys that young girls these days aren't as innocent we think they are. Not all of course. Just overheard some girls from a reputable n hottest school in CCK discussing which girl had done it with whom and it is common knowledge amongst them, schoolmates! :faint: They should be around P5/P6! Before we left to take the bus, heard one girl calling her mom saying she's going home to study and sleep and told her mommy to wake her up for dinner. No, I bet the mother doesn't know.

Yes girls are not so innocent physically but they are emotionally. Today they have greater access , freedom , and less supervision - all the more reason that they need protection by law.

The girls were also ridiculing how some of the guys were such virgin boys! :yikes:

Yup. They know not; their emotional and rational state of mind at this point until (touch wood) something happens. But they do know the physical power of seduction they have over the supposed boys. Ok, this is just creeping me out right now. I can still remember how innocent they look.. speckies and all.. Arms loaded with books.. Spoke reali well n in school uniform too..

Not every family has the privilege of having one parent stay home to ensure someone always is around for the children's needs... physical, emotional.. all encompassing. Then agn some parents do put career above self n family as well. Different strokes for different folks but for sure one thing we should or rather we must do the same regardless working or stay home parent is never to lose the communication channel with our children, regardless if they're girls OR boys.

Society has evolved too much to ignore and to be complacent to vibes beyond our comprehension.

On the other point, I'm not so sure she has any qualms about destroying the lives of 50+ men and possibly their families.
Based on what do you make the assumption of she being aware that \"visiting pros under 18 is illegal\"?

My impression from your comment suggests that you made that assumption? sorry if I'm wrong.

Let those who want to move forward, move on.

Let those who want to continue to do bad, carry on.

I don't think he cares about religion one little bit.
Live your life right. Love with all your heart. Don't hurt others, and help those in need. That is all you need to know.

I seriously doubt dat she is taken advantage of when she willingly n openly advertise her services in public,
n she was reportedly in direct contact with some men on some transactions.

Rehabitation, second chance n given space to rebuild her life – I will second dat anytime.

I find it hard to swallow dat there is no accountability for her role – where is d justice in d law?
Wat is d msg being conveyed to all those underage ‘aspirants’ dat I saw in today’s New Paper headline wanting to be social escorts? ‘It’s OK if other ppl’s lives r messed up but we will make our money n get away scot-free?'

I have three boys. It's not that I buy into the 'innocent, naive girl' story either. It's that I know the pitfalls of breaking this particular law about sleeping with underaged girls. I Because of my knowledge, I will do everything in my power to educate ,warn and threaten my sons so that they will never be fooled by any girl, falsely innocent or otherwise. There are cases of guys sleeping with their young girlfriends in a moment of passion and getting into trouble with the law, too. So whether or not the girls are really innocent or predators is, to me, beside the point.

The bottomline is that the boys would have done what they were not supposed to and would have to face the music. Then they have only themselves to blame. I would be grieved, but proving whether or not the girl was really innocent or not would be of no purpose because my boys would still be at fault for doing something they knew they shouldn't have.
