Chenonceau, what I was trying to agree upon is that not all 17yr olds are or can be as mature as yours. Parenting is one part of it.. (the moulding) but the rest is her.

And what I am trying to say is that IF she turned out badly, I would blame myself... not her... because I am older, supposed to be wiser... and it was MY responsibility to make her good.
I don't at all appreciate that strparent tried to make me sound like I was trying to take all the credit for her being who she is. -

I seriously doubt dat she is taken advantage of when she willingly n openly advertise her services in public,
n she was reportedly in direct contact with some men on some transactions.
Rehabitation, second chance n given space to rebuild her life – I will second dat anytime.
I find it hard to swallow dat there is no accountability for her role – where is d justice in d law?
Wat is d msg being conveyed to all those underage ‘aspirants’ dat I saw in today’s New Paper headline wanting to be social escorts? ‘It’s OK if other ppl’s lives r messed up but we will make our money n get away scot-free?'
Agree.. we are not talking about a young 12 yr old being raped. That of course will earn loads of sympathy. We're talking about a very enterprising young woman here who knows the shortest way to easy money and that Prada dag. Some of her encounters she had with the men were not even through the pimp. It's private transactions. So what do you think she's made off? Innocent gullible material? I seriously doubt so.
However, I do feel that we should give her a second chance with rehabilitation if she sees the need to change. But on no account should she get away without any responsibilty on her part. She's 17 , not 12. We would expect a certain level of maturity at least knowing what is right and wrong.
Even a pri school kid if caught flouting rules in school will be disciplined before being given a 2nd chance.
This whole saga just makes me think I should spend more time communicating moral values to my child whether it's a DS or DD.
I am gonna be spending some time with my DS & DD on this tonight......[/quote]How to talk to P6 ds about this type of thing? It is an appropriate age to discuss these type of commercial transactions yet? For those kids in Pei Chun, did the school talk to them about this whole saga since their ex-principal is featured on the newspaper headlines? If so, how did they do it? -
