Musings:
Thanks, then I think it is not suitable for my 10 years old.Dino mummy:
Can I ask which level is Magic Tree House suitable for? That is...the level of difficulty? Can a 10yrs old read? Is it too simple? Thks.
I think it depends on the reading ability of the child. A 10 year old with reasonable reading ability is likely to find Magic Tree House too simple. Magic Tree House is generally classified as 'beginning chapter books\". All books average about 70 pages which is not too daunting for a child just moving on from picture books - not generally not long enough to have a more complex plot development which older kids would prefer.
The Merlin series (also Magic Tree House) is pitched at more advanced readers even then I think may be too simple for 10 year old.
But if you have a 10 year old who does not read much or is a reluctant reader, it won't hurt to nudge the child towards reading by simple beginning chapter books like Magic Tree House. Better than not reading at all...
My 6 years old is not that good in his readings so I suppose he can't read this too...He is currently reading only those \"I Can Read\" Level 3 books and the Frog and Toad series and the \"little critter\" series. What other kinds of books can I introduce to him...I can't imagine if he still contiinue to read this kind of books when Pri 1. (ie next year) Am tinking of introducing chapter books to him but am afraid he will be put off...already difficult to get him to read level 3 books with him daily.
I dun have a problem w my elder one when he was young, he is a good reader unlike my younger one. Giving me headache.. -

The classic fantasy trilogy of Elmer Elevator and the flying baby dragon has delighted children and their parents for generations. Now, on the occasion of their fiftieth anniversary, Random House is proud to bring the three timeless tales together in one beautiful commemorative edition, complete with the original delightful illustrations. A Newbery Honor Book and an ALA Notable Book, My Father's Dragon is followed by Elmer and the Dragon (\"rich, humorous, and thoroughly satisfying\"*) and The Dragons of Blueland (\"ingenious and plausible, the fantasy well-sustained\"*). Each story stands alone, but read in succession, they are an unforgettable experience.*Library Journal, starred review

Another dragon book: ‘The Reluctant Dragon’ by Kenneth Grahame.Short and sweet. He also wrote ‘The Wind in the Willows’. My 7-1/2-year-old enjoyed it very much.

Hi kiasu parents I'm new around here. Just got feedback from my kid's nursery teacher that my daughter doesn't really like paper worksheets and books, preferring the iPad and computer. This is because we've always used the iPad as a \"nanny\" when we're out so that she'll sit still or keep quiet. She's turning three this week and can't confidently recognize all the alphabets. My wife is studying at the moment and my work requires me to travel alot so I try my best to teach her whenever I can or to the limit my patience lets me. Shes attending nursery (full-day) and I'd like to
supplement it with a reading class for her. Does anyone know of such a centre to recommend in the Marine Parade area? Thanks in advance! -
There’s a great book, “Always wear clean underwear!” written by Marc Gellman. It is a wonderful resource for parents to read with kids and to instill values in them. I used some stories from the book during the Orientation Week when I was teaching in my ex-school. When I first saw this book, the title caught my attention. It is written in a conversational, easy to understand and humourous manner. Even my upper primary kids loved the stories. An AWESOME read!
