Hi, my P2 girl has been faring poorly in her maths papers since she started primary school. I've tried enrolling her in the nearby rc maths tuition last year. Not much improvement after one year, so I withdrew her and placed her in mpm. Quite mixed feelings really. So far, her maths results are not improving. But I can clearly see improvement in her self discipline. I also discovered over the past few months that her problem sums are really the \"problem\" areas. She can do the arithmetic calculations just fine. Her mastery of the multiplication tables are good also. Just cannot break down the problems... I'm still observing her progress under mpm, but also interested to find out whether there are programs that emphasize on problem sum analysis. Hope to hear your suggestions.... Thanks....

Hi, my son has started on Concept Maths this year. So far so good. I'm not very in the know but they focus a lot on getting the Maths concepts right. Since attending, he is a lot more confident about tackling modeling questions and seems to like Maths more. Not sure if you want to give them a try (note classes are quite popular). This is located at gold hill centre. -

Hi Parents, would need some advice. I was thinking of sending my boy for math enrichment programme but do not know which centre and courses suit him best. His school result is above average. He is now in P4, and he told me he might need help in solving problem sum faster or more efficiently and if there are any useful method or technique to apply when solving some challenging sum. Usually he can do the sum but need to spend more time thinking and solve the problem sum base on his own concept of understanding and his own working. When checking on Onsponge math, his answer is correct but we realise the given solution working is very straight forward but do not understand how it was work out. He did not attend any enrichment sofar.
What is the different between Olympiad Maths and Heuristic Math and the normal problem sum? Is it true that one need to acquire the skill of handle OM in order to better handle Maths Question in PSLE. How about just follow what the school teach, would it be enough? Does PSLE give OM type of question?
Really hope to clear all these doubts so that can guide my ds better. TIA for any feedback. -
