Most imptly, we need to instil the innate motivation to learn independently.

Any tips on how best to do that?

I believe we can start small by letting the child takes on more responsibility at home, handing sch work, etc.

It also depends on the child. Some mature earlier, some later. My 2 boys are living examples.

My goodness! There're about 100 winners for Platinum award alone. :yikes:

Which tells me that one must be almost perfect if one wishes to use MO for DSA. πŸ˜“

Btw any P2 & 3 parents going for the school talk on CCA/streaming this Sat morning?

Thanks for sharing, agree that giving the children age-appropriate chores and making them realize they are accountable instills a sense of responsibility in them, which in turns helps in building up their independence.
There's still a lot for me to learn on this topic...

Yup I did. In fact, I was sitting rite next to JRLam and we busied ourselves watching a tennis match between the sch mgt and some of PH parents during some parts in the Q&A. And then we have JoeeYee dressing as though she is going to a party afterwards.

Ok it was a lazy Sat morning so I only allowed myself to remember 3 things.

** PH is really good in all things dancing. Be it RG, Chinese dance or some other dance which I can't recall now, seems like we've been gold medal winners since time immemorial.

** The big change is for P2. It used to be 100% SA2 as stated in the handbook. Now it seems that T2 holistic assessments will consist of 30% with the 2nd semester covering the other 70%. That understandably caused consternation amongst some parents, due mainly to the abruptness (in timing) of the message.

Very interesting dialogue happened afterwards, including impromptu accolades for the sch by 2 mummies - you mums are my heroes - amidst the general backdrop of what I sensed as an air of scrutiny of the sch's performance by the audience; which is good in a way as it demonstrated involved parenting.

Due to the concerns (and may I add persistence) of some parents, P agreed to have a survey amongst P2 parents on the implementation of the 30-70% rule.

** The PA system urgently needs an upgrade as this is the 2nd time I couldn't hear the speakers clearly on stage. Maybe towkay php can write a 5-figure cheque to the sch and they can name the improved PA system after him. :siam:

Report, I must. Cos got towkay asked me to.

But pressure cooker ornot, I wanna be like you leh. Just try my best to support ds's work and leave everything else to fate or God (depending on how religious one is).

At the same time, never forget to learn to laugh at our shortcoming and dont take our ego too seriously. Then life's a peach. And my son gets to go to RGS.
