No policy to ban Holiday homework

Coming back last week of holiday but got to go school everyday for practice.
Don't know how many group projects and individual work. Majority of classmates still in sin for first week of holiday so easier to coordinate and try to finish as much as possible.
Dd didn't want to bring too much work along for holiday. -

Is not marking of school work a new norm in our school education? Have been hearing more and more of such complaints, especially upper primary (p5/6) and secondary school. Are the teachers rushing to give homework for the sake of giving to be in line with their elaborated lesson plans without bothering to mark the work or caring if students really understand their work? :slapshead:What is this all about pro family...5 day work week for family bonding, etc. Nowadays kids have no time for family. Sat tied up with CCA sometimes till 6pm, then need to rush with homework, etc.
My friend's son in Sec 1 does not join the family with outings anymore. Too stressed up with overwhelming homework.
Did you all realize that for Jun hols homework or on-line homework, teachers usually do not go through them or provide any answers. They just give lots and lots of homework. If students do not do, they will be punished or scolded but most of the time, teachers do not even marked them. -

The homework given in the past few years were not easy. This year P6, i was informed there will be suppl lessons during 1st week of June. Wonder what will be taught during that 1 week. Was planning to ask tutor to come in the morn but not possible anymore.
During hols, I would revise with my kids every morn...or else it is possible they forget their names when school reopens. But I do agree that teachers should not give hw during hols, especially for lower pri. -
There is gonna be a very very exciting workshop (school said so :roll: )with overseas educators involved coming up in June. Kids are encouraged to sign up for it.
Till now still no info.
Some parents are unable to confirm their travel plans cos they want kid to attend.
A bit frustrating for friend cos she is afraid by the time the letter is out, she might not be able to get her leave approved.
Persuaded dh to not sign kid up for this workshop. Yes!

Ask the teachers to mark the homework by a deadline set by parents if they do no mark the homework. :rotflmao: Parents give homework for teachers since got pay them school fees. -
my dd1 is in P1, barely homework over holidays till now. am waiting to see what happens for June Holidays.
Thing is, she will be in the BASC when I am working so homework will help keep her mind constant instead of forgetting what she has learnt. -

Piling up homework at P5, P6 - why can’t exams be abolished and have a better spread of work done over the semesters? That provides healthier and more consistent learning which I think is more effective.

coz psle is one big exam. on spreading exams throughout the year, depends on how one sees it. some see it as tougher as every 3 mths got big test that matters, while others prefer instead one big exam better at end of year to see if child can progress to next level. -

My point is that that emphasis should be on learning, and not about testings or exams. Anyway, I am still boggling over this issue, and not conclusive in views. Would be nice to see more sharing here.concern2:
