All About Full-Time Maids

Need your kind advise.
This is my first time getting a maid and after some interviews, I am interested in this phillipino maid got jocelyn Quiaoit.
Almost wanted to take her when I suddenly rem abt getting her employment history via her work permit no.
The agency showed me and to my surprise, she had 5 employers from her 2 yrs stay in spore.

Her first 2 employment lasted 3months, in both cases is becoz the Ah Ma passed away.
Her 3rd employment lasted 1 yr and she left coz the employer never pay for for 5 mths and she brought her case to MOM.
Then she had 2 more short employment after this case and the reason for the shortness was becoz it's all temporary jobs as she is still under invested for this \"no salary\" case and thus not able to be recruited full time.
And now the reason for looking for a full time employment is becoz her case with MOM is being settled. In the meantime, she is staying with the maid quarters.

I dunno if all these make sense. Is this normal?
She is the only transferred maid asking for 450. The rest are at least 500 and one even quoted 650! And all wanted 4 off days.

Didnt know it's so hard and exp to get maid nowadays..

from my experience with transfer maid with such history, don't take such chances. i was in a similar situation and opted to take her despite her history of many employers. she has a reason everytime she changed employer and it was never her fault. during interview she appear very nice and seem like a decent maid. once we signed on the dot and brought her home, she showed her true colors within 1 week. don't take such chance even if the agency promised free replacement.

By the way, they said I need to bring my NRIC, my kid’s birth cert, my income statement from IRAS. Isst true?

Please be careful which maid agency you are using too! If the maid agency is a "one man show" ie. small outfit, it is likely they will make you take multiple-transfer maid. Passing the problem maid round and round to unsuspecting employer, then blame the employer for being unlucky!

I use Nations for all my maids. This agency at least is already large and established and they won’t anyhow introduce transfer maids to other employers. Also will help the employer. Fees not cheap for sure but at least from my experience, the maids we got were OK!

Larger maid agencies can have better resources as well for selection of maids.

Although there is definitely no guarantee at the end of the day but at least we hope potential problems will be minimized.

Agree with DesertWind. I tried a small outfit with one man show and end up choosing maid who does not meet my criteria because the agency simply don’t have any new bio data for me to choose.

I wouldnt take this maid even if salary is 400, sounds like a \"sway\" maid n so many transfers, somemore \"ah ma\" passed off... I wouldnt take a maid that hv worked for a family tat has someone passed off during her term there.
If u produce yr kids b/c u get a discount frm the levy ..if ur child is under 12yrs u pay 170 dollars for the levy.

Yup, if she planned it well she would finish her contract in a years time and coincidently he has about a year left too. They could actually go back to mynmar together n do the proper thing. Well the man is back in mynmar to meet her parents and go thru a proper wedding, he will be back in spore to work till november n return to mynmar to witness the birth of his child. Apparently she does nt want him to continue in spore again. I guess she fear he may stray. Poor guy, came here to make money and landed up with another 2 more mouth to feed.
She intends to start a small business mayb tailoring so I guess she did do some planning. She was an honest maid and thats really hard to come by nowadays.

Recently went to a friend’s house, new maid again.


My friend is the super fussy sort.

By her own admission, the maid is okay, but she thinks there is another better one out there. So when her maid has almost paid off the loan, she would be out looking foe new maid. Been like that for the past few years. So all her maids’ record is - didn’t finish contract.

Was the maid the one who told you the reasons for her short stints in each of her 5 employers? These are actually very common reasons maids will supply when asked why they didn't complete their contract. Most common - Ah Ma died. Other common reasons - Employer got retrenched. No money to hire maid anymore. Or employer didn't pay salary.

If you really want to hire, call up MOM to verify if her case was indeed under investigation. And ask her for the contact numbers of her ex-employers and see what they have to say about her.

Personally I wouldn't hire her.
