      Hello Phase 1 mummies,

Need to submit the reply form by 17th April. I kept reminding my boy not to forget if not his sister cannot get into the school. Hahaha : )
      Hi Sotong1209,

Me too, I reminded DS1 last night and this morning...

My colleague was telling me about her friend. Her friend asked her DS to hand in the form for her DD last year under Ph1 ( Not Rulang ) and by October, she felt strange that the school did not send orientation day details. Upon checking, she found that the school did not have a record of receiving the Phase 1 form and she had to go to the school to plead for a vacancy for her DD....

So, let's hope Rulang will send a sort of confirmation....

DDs sch has that too but no marks. Only holistic assessment based on their rubrics. Parents can attend the session where their children are scheduled to perform the tasks. Basically to show that the children know how to work with the materials to answer the given questions. Yes there are marks for the paper but not included in report book. Only reflected as holistic assessment report.

Thanks sista. No idea if Rulang will be giving the same kinda tasks but parents not invited for sure... The rubrics for your DDs school were provided to parents in advance?

Nope. Not made known in advance.

Children have practiced working on the materials and similar questions prior to thee day. On the day of the Performance Tasks, parents are invited to sit in from when the teaching session began till the papers have all been completed by the children.

Parents get a glimpse of how lessons are carried out.. materials used in class n it's variety.. how children were taught to work hands-on.. how children attempted the questions very much independently.. etc.

Holistic just means to show that the school looks out for the children's other strengths apart from just understanding the concepts and how to get the questions right. (academic focussed) Attentiveness in class.. participation.. initiative.. leadership.. raise hands to ask when in doubt.. work independently.. concentration level.. checking work before submission etc (soft skills) ...are also being observed.

If the child displays positive learning attitude in the soft skills section, half the battle is won. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I also never heard about such practical test before. But what I did was just draw her some curve lines and ask her to use a string to measure the length. Just make sure they know how to measure any items given to them ๐Ÿ™
