It’s very hard for me to explain why as I would never have considered any of the other options. I guess the only way I can explain it is to say that when he saw the bag being taken it was in the present therefore it has to be present tense?
I think this is where children benefit a lot from reading as these things will start to come naturally even if they can’t remember the rules. -
Do you know the first and second form of verb rule? If not, let me explain as example:
John (bought) a pair running shoe after the old pair of running shoe (wear) out.
First verb ( bought) is PA tense but not only can be used if the first form is not past tense ,so the second verb must be a base form.
This question
First verb ( buying)
Second verb ( snatch)
First verb is always can be in any tense but the second verb is always the base form.
Hopes you could understand! -
Michaelia0816, thanks!
