Angry parents demand to know why Zoe Tay’s son was accepted into Henry Park Primary School
Angry parents whose children are deprived of a place in Henry Park Primary School are now demanding to know why MediaCorp’s artiste Zoe Tay’s son Brayden was accepted into it after being rejected by another school Nanyang Primary School.

Both Nanyang and Henry Park Primary Schools are among the top five primary schools in Singapore and are extremely popular among parents.

Zoe Tay reportedly started volunteering for Nanyang Primary School since 2009. However, she lives in Holland Road, more than 2km from Nanyang Primary and may be the main reason why her son was unable to get a slot.

For those familiar with the Singapore Primary 1 registration stages, those who failed to get their first choice are usually forced to select from the remaining ‘less popular’ schools.

Though Zoe Tay’s husband Mr Chioh is an alumni of Henry Park Primary School, it was not his first choice and therefore Brayden’s admission raised some suspicions among unhappy parents that ‘foul play’ might be involved.

Zoe Tay declined to comment on the controversy when contacted by the media. Neither did Henry Park Primary School explain its decision to accept Brayden.
http://temasektimes.wordpress.com/2012/05/02/angry-parents-demand-to-know-why-zoe-tays-son-was-accepted-into-henry-park-primary-school/

The 'angry parents' not very familiar with our P1 registration system. 🙂

If her DH is alumni of Henry Park then they would have reg under 2a , a phase before nanyang (2b).

she lives practically next door to HPPS

aren’t people clamouring that distance should have priority than parent volunteer ?

she lives there long before she PV at NYPS

why do envious people hold multiple standard ?

If her hubby is alumni at HPPS, she would have applied under Phase 2A and got a seat. Though she volunteered at NYPS, it would be under Phase 2B. By Phase 2B, when she had realised that beyond 2km had no chance of getting in NYPS, she would not have put in another application for NYPS and just accepted her initial Phase 2A successful application for HPPS.

I think she had "strategise" but circumstances had not been in her favor so she did not get her 1st choice. I doubt there is controversy in the system in this instance. But her "advertising" of her 1st choice school for her kid has certainly put her kid and herself in an unfavorable condition.

Actually I don’t see anything to be angry about. Is it because she is Zoe??

Whichever school her son goes is not important. Most important is that her son can make it in the school. As the standard of both schools are more or less of similar standard, her son will shine if he's good. Seriously, there's more important issues in lives than to get upset over this. Are those parents so sure that if their kids got into the school, their kids can outperform the rest? Their kids can make it into good secondary schools later if they perform well in their PSLE. Being in a neighbourhood school doesn't mean that their kids will definitely do badly....unless... :censored: 🤷 :siam:

I believe KSP forum still have many \"sane\" parents who do not go \"barking up the wrong tree\", unlike some reporting which are skewed and do not get facts right. Important for the public to be able to differentiate truth from misleading reports.

She should have just kept quiet about the PV thing at nanyang.

Firstly she is staying in holland rd and then her hubby is ex-Henry park student, registering under phase 2A is no prob. Sometimes, it is not necessary to talk too much and give others a chance to fire missiles.

Her son is not in HPPS. Her hubby is old boy of SJI junior. Which I think is ST michale in the past and now SJI junior.

The report is not correct. Her son is in SJI junior.

She did not apply for HPPS.
