      HAPPYH:
      Funz:

DD just got home and was all smiles. Told me that her teacher gave the class a mock math exam today and she scored 89/100. Yet to see the paper and what mistakes she made but think bound to have some careless mistakes.

While typing out my previous post and reviewing some of DD's work, I realise that DD will start out doing fine, getting the first few sections almost all correct then make tons of mistakes in the last section. Cannot help but wonder if it is a case of not being able to sustain focus. Think I will try getting DD to do a few sets of papers but to start from the last sections first then move forward. Just to see if she does better in those sections if she were to start on them first.

Same with my DD. I asked her to start from Scetion C (Maths). She got all of them correct but three or four untolerable mistakes in section A. I think she could not concentrate towards the end.

PS: She does some mistakes based on the concepts as well however the rate of conceptual error is relatively low.

Hope they will improve over time.

i get my son to start from the easiest section (ie Sect A); then checked backwards from Section C...cos sometimes no time to check, then cos SectA supposedly easier and fresher since start doing that section first, so can afford to forgo checking that part if time not enough.
but will still have mistakes la. :faint:

Trial with DD starting from Section C instead of Section A is done. And as suspected, she made minimal mistakes in Section C but some stupid mistakes in section A and ended up with a score in the 90s instead of her usual 80s. Think it is really a problem with staying focused.

DD’s math is on Tues so we will take these few days to explore more variety of questions and also for her to do more mock papers, starting from section C first.

Started her on some Omega 3 supplements as well. Gosh, taking exams these days also need to strategise.

Q1: Plastic isused to make different containers for storing food. Write down 2 other physical properties of plastic which it suitable for this purpose. (2marks)

Q2 : Saucepan is made of metal and plastic. Hammer is made of metal and wood.

                hmmm… could the answers be

Q1) Plastic is hard and flexible enough to mould into different container size and shape.

Q2) The saucepan is used for cooking so the metal part is a good heat conductor to cook the food while the hammer with metal part is used for hammering and hence strength is important.

Not sure if this answer is right.
