Hifive:

I used to teach my DS1 on time and money using the EPH publication - Learn about Money and Learn about Time. However that was a few years' back. Now that I am teaching DS2 on these topics, I can't find them in Popular anymore. Seems that they don't carry any more stock on these titles.

What activity / assessment books do you use to teach on time and money ?

i still :scratchhead: as to how to teach time. he knows half past and o'clock, but not anything inbetween.
for money, i am teaching him $1=how many 10cents; 20cents; 50cents only. 😓

Try teaching how to count in skips of 5 (5, 10, 15, 20....etc) relate this to finger 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.... at the same time. Once this concept is very good, introduce the correlation to time. Not immediate but should work out for average child.
I'm trying it on my boy. Succeeded with the counting. Didn't follow up with the relation with the fingers yet. Mistake was didn't teaching him to skip with the finger nos. at the same time...
So will have an extra step to teach.....

Same problem.... Mine only eat broccoli.
Sadly, in preschool, they always have bd packs from friends. No matter how you keep sweets/snacks from them, they still get it from somewhere.
Worst is he gets sweets, chocolate from others when I go to supermarkets, other places. Haiz.
Hi Kelsy,
Your DS must be very cute thats why all auntie and uncle cannot resist giving him snacks...
That is another headache, and you cant say not to these people as you know they are being nice....

At least he like brocolli, my ds do not take any vegetable any all.... oh... just long bean....
Good morning Crystalbelle,

What is your DS weight? Mine is about 110cm tall and weighs about 19 to 20Kg.
I think its ok if he's a little bit overweight cos kids sure lose weight when they enters P1 !

My DS is 111 and weights : 23-24 kg lor :yikes: 😓

i think a bit chubby is ok.
my boy is a bit chubby last year. this year, his weight drop to 50th percentile.
his height is 97th percentile though.
he weighs 21kg. height 121. looks like a P1. but he is not even 6yrs old! :faint:
wow, he is quite tall lor......
my DS is a “ 矮冬瓜”

When he don't speak, ppl mistake him f primary 3. :slapshead: 苦笑。
Worst of all, he kind of accepted he's fat and doesn't care when he wants to eat.

for me, it's easier to teach DD about money coz she loves playing shop. we use her coins from her piggy bank. i arrange items and put labels on them how much. she will try give me exact amount or i ask her to give me more and she'll tell me how much should be her change. but i first taught her how to make one dollar from all the 10s, 20s and 50s she have.

with time, she is very stubborn. dont want to learn. :((

my DD is around 115cm and weighs 20kg. i want her to gain a little more weight coz i know she'll lose them when start primary coz of the long hours in school and her sleep time will probably be shorter...

I teach time by first explain the 1 is 5 mins , 2 is 10 mins .....etc. Then every time ask her 'wats the time now?'or tell her she can watch tv for xx mins than ask her wat time she need to stop .. Like tat v fast she can tell the time Liao 🙂

Money concept go out let her pay lor and before she pay ask her how much change she suppose to get back. After she get back the change let her count to see if she correct.
