      Hi Sally,

Congratulations to you and your boy!

I am sure he is a bright and independent boy. With the right attitude he can go far in Nush!

If you have any further query, you can email to you and I am happy to share with you on the things that I know.

If there is any future coffee talk in this sem at Nush, you can join in and find out more from the parents. All of us (not most of us), will be willingly to share more with you!
      Morning happymum8

Thanks. Will email you if need any advice. (':celebrate:')

Hi all, for those parents who are still undecided or who're considering NUSH, they're organising another open house:

        Their email below dated 28Sep:

Some of you or your parents may have missed all of our earlier open house, admissions talk and parent's seminars. Hence we decided to provide another opportunity for students and parents who missed out earlier, to get to know the school better by organizing an admissions talk cum school tour. For those who have attended our earlier open house and admissions talk, it is not necessary to attend this session.

The details of the school tour and admissions talk are as follows:

        Date: 21st October 2009, Wednesday
School Tour: 5:45 to 6:15pm (Registration at 5:30pm)
Admissions Talk: 6:30 to 7:30pm (Registration at 6:00pm)
        Venue: NUS High School Auditorium

Please note that you are not required to register for the latest admissions talk, however, you have to sign up for the school tour. We seek your kind understanding in this matter as only 50 places are available for the school tour on a first -come-first-serve basis. Please e-mail to [email protected] to indicate the number of people that will be attending the school tour.

Thank-you and hope to see you on 21st October 2009.

        Regards,
        Van Li Hui

I came across a NUSH student’s blog. He had taken some pictures on the kids during DSA camp 2009, it showed what the kids did in the lab… Take a look at his Twinning Programme 2007 as well. This is his blog site http://reset-busted.blogspot.com/2009/07/nus-high-school-direct-school-admission.html

              From wikipedia

              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NUS_High_School_of_Mathematics_and_Science
              NUS Non-Graduating Programme
Only NUS High School students are entitled the privilege of being eligible for the NUS Non-Graduating Programme. Under this programme, NUS High School students are allowed to read and take up any NUS modules and courses from Faculty of Science (including Office of Life Sciences), Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (Literature, History, Geography and Economics), and School of Computing (CS1101S - Programmimg Methodology), provided that students meet the minimum academic competency level or requirement as deemed by NUS High School. Gifted students with high talents in a specific subject may be able to be exempted from NUS High School modules and accelerate to take up NUS courses and modules from various faculties (Not limited to the above mentioned faculties).
              ------

Anyone knows how much the NUS High students have to pay for taking NUS modules?

It's $500 per module, but $440 will be subsidised, so you only pay $60 per NUS module. 😄

I believe majority of the Year 6s will be offered to take NUS modules. They only have lessons at NUSHS for 2-3 days a week and will spend the other days to take NUS modules or do internships. A handful of Year 3/4s who are talented in a certain subject have been recommended by the HOD to take NUS modules. There are a few who have cleared the 'O'/'A' level Maths as early as Year 1/2s have also been offered to take NUS Maths modules. But not all will accept the offer as sometimes their NUSHS timetable may clash with the NUS timetable.

I believe for NUSH selection test the students are tested in Math and Science. I heard Math will be more of olympiad type questions. Is it true?. Can anyone suggest some reading materials/books/magazines for science ?. Thanks.
