Actually, that is a good decision if u do nt intend to move near the school. Honestly Im living in town and Im very tired beating the jam in school and driving her for extra classes n curriculum for the past few years and now with supplementry classes, h/c and occasional workshops it can get quite stressing. Mine takes t school bus and even tho Im less then 15 mins away by car, my gir hv to be ready at 5.55am. Im glad shes now in P6 n 5 months left... I intend to choose a secondary school at a convenient location n with less traffic conjestion. Theres really so little time 4 my girl to rest.
Hi phttpt, thanks for your clear explanation, honestly I might just put my gal in the neighbour school 100m alway from my home, to save her traveling time. Anyway I still keep my option open. Thanks again.phtthp:
hi WTS,
P1 2013 - wef January next year, your daughter study at Hillcrest, Bukit Timah (PM session).
P2 2014 - shift over to temporary Mount Sinai Holland (PM session).
P3 2015 - continue at Mount Sinai (AM session).
P4 2016 to P6 2018 - return back permanently to Hillcrest (single session AM).
Senkang / Punggol is very far from Mount Sinai.
thus for two years 2014 to 2015 - you may want to consider renting a place closer Mount Sinai to reduce shorter travelling time, eg: Ghim Moh, Buona

perhaps Persevere for minimal two years first, before decide to transfer her out to neighbourhood school. Lower primary P1 / P2 workload is managable. The big jump in depth / content comes in from P4 to P6. Transfer her out to neighbourhood school is easier. The other way round more difficult.
Whatever happens, don't lose her RGPS report card (for future use).
No matter how many times you shift house, keep her report card safely. 30 years later - maybe your daughter get married, have a grand-daughter, stay very near to RGPS less than 1 km.
after 2016 turn single session -
our school may introduce new changes, to benefit more mainstream pupils. (all these in planning stage now) In due time when the season is ripe, the school will announce. -

Well say, honestly I never think until 30 years down the road. Anyway thanks for you advise. -

Hi mwchua, how much are you paying for the bus fare? It seems RGPS is much more expensive? I am paying $95 each.WTS:
Hi all Dear Parent, I have been following this forum for a while, just need some opinion regarding should i be putting my little one to RGPS or just a school near my place. My girl is fall under category 2A as my wife was an ex-girl, but we are staying at Punggol. Now my main concern is the distance she have to travel. Is there any one who are staying in Punggol or Seng Kang area ? wondering how long it takes via school bus to reach the school ? and is your little one coping well with the journey ? Hope to get some reply. Cheers.
Hi
I stay at Sengkang and my P3 girl is taking school bus.
For the last 2 years, school bus picked her up around 11.30pm and back by 7.10 pm on average.Understand that bus journey typically is around 35+ min depending on traffic condition, and also how many girls on the bus. For afternoon session averaged about 6 to 7 for combined P1 & P2.
For P3-P6, for this year there is a total of about 17-18 girls taking school bus based on my understanding. -

Currently the school bus fee schedule for SK/PG is $170 (1-way), $210 (2-way). -
My girl has got bits and pieces of her P3 exam result back. Seems that her class is not doing well for the Science Open-ended questions.
Just want to seek some advice as to whether the girls are adequately prepared for answering techniques for Science OE questionsby the school. From the few Science assignments that I see in her Science file, it seems that very little practice is being given to the girls. I hope I can guide her but frankly am at a loss when it comes to answering techniques for OE questions as I find that even guide books/assessment books answers might not be taken.

I find that there has been very little guidance too. For DD, they have been encouraged to explore and observe but I do not see their exploration and observation being translated into tangible materials. Maybe it is just DD, she is forever observing. :razz:My girl has got bits and pieces of her P3 exam result back. Seems that her class is not doing well for the Science Open-ended questions.

DD's science result's not out yet so no idea how she or the class did. But this being the 1st science test, I was thinking of just using it as a gauge to see what is required and where is DD's standard compared to school's standard. -
Hi all,
DD just told me that there’s no school tomorrow. Is that true? -
Ok, found the email from the school. Confirm tomorrow no school. Darn, not prepared.
