There are many schools of thoughts about effective cardio exercise. I use the following guide. Target about 70-85% of my max heart rate. Max heart rate is estimated by taking 220 - your age.

So if you are 30yrs old, your target exercise heart rate will be between 130 - 160/min.

Aside from the heart rate thing, the rest is common sense. If you feel uncomfortable slow down. Start easy and gradually increase intensity if you want to. If not just enjoy.

Alamak! No need lah. I am saying to target to maintain a workout heart rate of 130/min. Heart rate dear, the number of times your heart beats per minute.

Depends on what is your objective. If you are just looking to have more energy and feel good, keep fit, 15-20 mins a day minimum. If you are looking to lose weight, maintain that heart rate for about 45mins to burn.

Been guilty of not exercising at all. Never quite find any motivation until I decide to go on a tour that will involve quite a fair bit of walking and trekking. Started to go on the treadmill (with incline) every alternate days for the last 1 month. Tour will be in a month's time from today. Hope my heart and legs will be slightly stronger than before by the time I go on the trip πŸ˜‚

Dun think I will lose much weight out of this, but I do feel good after each session.

Each time I lost weight through intensive exercise, I got pregnant!!

That happened with DS3 & DS4. Just when I looked good & got fit, pop another one!! :yikes:

DS4 now 7 months and started my exercise regime again 3 months ago. Before pregnancy, I was working out with a Personal Trainer twice a week & pilates once a week and I must say that once you hit 3 times a week (one hour each time) and watch your diet (but can still eat occasional mee pok & ice cream), you'll definitely start getting trim again in 2-3 months. By 5months, I had lost 8 kgs but also gained 4 kgs of beautiful looking biceps, triceps, slimmer thighs & even got 4 nice looking abs!!!

Now I'm feeling motivated to feel good & look great again. But don't want to get pregnant again!!!

:rotflmao: Hi bean bear, I think your husband must be thinking you look extremely sexy after losing wt. That's why you got pregnant  moreover, 8 kg of weight is really not easy too lose, I try controlling my diet and some form of exercise but only lost 1 kg  Not determine enough, I think.

hehe Jasmsy, when I'm fat, he says \"more to love\", when I'm fit & trim he says \"more desirable\" - guess we both need more \"tuition\" in family planning!!

The first month is most difficult. I've been struggling with my weight eversince the birth of my first kid. 10kg overweight. It was only after 3rd child that I really put in the discipline & commitment to be fit. After the 3 months of working out, I kept receiving lots of compliments from friends. I also inspired hubby to work out with me. He lost 8kg in 2 months!!! So sickening. But boy, he looks sooo yummy.... SO we both became yummy mummy and yummy hubby. Our reward become baby No 4. :rotflmao:

Envious!!! Share share your personal trainer's contact πŸ˜„

I've been going to the gym for 7+ months 3 to 5 times a week doing circuit training. My gym in-house trainer changed my workout every month but I hardly lost any weight, only achieved slight toning. Going on low carb diet helped me to lose 3kg, however still very far from my (ambitious) target BMI 😒
