What's wrong with the doctors nowadays??

I believe a good GP is one who do not prescribe antibiotics at the slightest chance to jack up patient's fee. His analysis must also be correct.
As a SAHM, there is no company doc to visit. With common prob like headache, sore throat, running nose, cough, phlegm, I can treat myself.
But after 3 days and still no positive sign, I will have to visit my GP.
Hubby sees this company appointed doc when he is sick, but medicine given hardly cures his prob...in the end, he will always ask me for medicine :faint: -

I fully understand what u mean.....Kinda missed my old doctor near my parents' place... If you go to her with a cold, she will prepare cough, phelgm, etc medicine even if you haven't showed the symptoms yet. Of course a bit expensive but well worth it.
My current place has 4 clinics but sadly, 3 of them can't make it.
The last one has a long waiting time, average about 1 hour....
Just went to 1 of the clinics with running nose + blocked nose. Doctor just gave a few meds. I asked for antibiotics and his reply was \"don't need\".
I had to stress that this was a repeat of the previous sickness 2 weeks ago and then he reluctantly prescribed 3 days' worth of antibiotics.
Really wonder what's wrong with the doctors nowadays??
Doctors usually dont like to prescribe antibiotics....BUT, but we know and understand our bodies well enuff.
For common sickness, like flu, fever and cough, i provide self medication and closed monitoring of my symptoms.
As even if i were to go to my family doc, he will prescribe me almost same medication each time of visits.
But if i have a sore throat, ( my sore throat is usually very bad) and it usually dont juz go away,
Despite loading with Lozenges, thymol gargle, Manaku honey, high dose of vitamin C, and even Enzymes....
Hence, if i have sore throat ( with pain even swallowing of saliva),
i would def request for the need of antibiotics to get well....
Though i will still try all the above for a few days.....

Well, to put things straight, I asked the doc for antibiotics mainly because I had the same illness 2 weeks ago.
That time 2 weeks ago, it took me rather long to recover from the illness and I had to "self-medicate", by taking watermelon lozenges for sore throat.
This time the doc prescribed painkillers for my sore throat which to me seemed very weird, as I expected him to give lozenges instead.
Anyway, the painkillers didn’t work because my throat was damn itchy.
I suffered voice change for 3 days before coming down another fever again.
This time go another doc, she prescribed me antibiotics straightaway after hearing I sick for so many days.
Needless to say, this doc not under company’s panel…
I missed my old doctor at my parents’ place so much.
Long waiting time and quite expensive but well worth it.
Cos she will always prepare some "in-advance" medicines.
i.e. if you have flu, she will prepare phelgm & cough medicines too, in case you get them later.
Probably explains why many people see her and when there’s a replacement doc (when usual doc not around), there’s no patients at all lol… -

There is no effective drugs against viral infections.. only the body's immune system can fight it.While trying to understand the use of antibiotics, I came across this...
Hence, usually doctor prescribe Vit C for viral infections and some drug to make you \"feel better only\" while the immune system is fighting off the virus.
Vit C helps to strengthen the immune system.
drugs cannot \"cure\" viral infections. To fight against viral infections, the only way is vaccination, which prepares the immune system for possible attacks by a particular strain of virus.
That is why HIV is deadly.. bcoz it attacks the immune system itself. w/o the immune system, even the common flu is deadly. -
I am the family doc...unlicensed though :rotflmao:
My fridge has all the medicine for diff ailment. For eg blocked/stuffy nose, rashes, fever....must have standby at home. Now see doc very ex.
The moment i have sore throat, I start medication...cannot afford to fall sick.
But after taking 3x a day still not working for few days, swallow saliva still painful, have to see REAL doctor liao.
