My boy scored worse than yours in HCL & EL paper 2. Ytd, he came back with part of NC marks (I dunno why). Paper 1 for languages, Listening Compreh/Oral and Sci marks are not released yet.Any parents know something about P5 SA1 results. My boy kept very quiet and demoralized. He scored 70 to 75 for Chinese and English main paper, math 85 plus. It is like a shock to my boy in Loyalty 9. When I asked him about his friends, he told me no one would tell him. What a depressed mood the class is in I think!
Any parents can share if you know. My hubby is very strict with my boy. I am depressed too and keep the results secrets with my boy.
We have not seen the papers yet, no point getting depressed whatever. Moreover, PH is known for setting difficult P5 papers.
I was at PizzaHut last week and seated next to a father & daughter (who was wearing MGS uniform). Their conversation was centred on P5 exam results. The father acknowledged that P5 is a big jump and affirmed the daughter's efforts. I thought this father was wonderful as he has looked beyond scores and has acknowledged P5 is more difficult and most imptly, his daughter's efforts. -

Jennifer,
\"building a strong foundation (esp in lower pri)\"- this I did way before my children started formal pri sch education.Joyfulhands:
Ideally, building a strong foundation (esp in lower pri) + instilling independent learning leads to lesser coaching by parents (ie less stressful), right?
Question is, how to do that?
I was in accounts during my first pregnancy. My colleagues always said I was doing 胎教. When he was a toddler, I introduced numbers, Lego and puzzles, subsequently abacus and music lessons. Followed by books, enrichment EL lessons from P1 to P3. And a writing course at Catherine Khoo where he had his first story book published.
But I had problems with independently learning during his P4 year. We fought a lot esp in CL until I formally declared I washed my hands off. That end of year exam, most of his scores slipped. I think that was a wake up call for him. He had very responsible teachers in P5 and P6. Going to NJC is a blessing too. In a small cohort, he is easily identified as one of the high ability students and is given more opportunities.
We are very blessed that he has reached maturity.
You've taught your sons well. Well done! You can apply the same formula to coach your grandchildren in future, hee.. -

Your dd trains so much still must lose weight? And if you're going to confiscate food, shouldn't you be confiscating the fattening muffin and not the presumably healthier sandwich alternative?
Ha Ha ....
I Know, But Mummy will Confiscate the Sandwich ....

We have a 3 EL dictionaries at home. Some new words are not found in the older dictionary and some words are found only in Collins.
2 sets of Longman
1 set of Collins Cobuild Advanced Learner's -

Cant do this.
The same formula applied to one child might not work in another child. My 2 boys are living examples. -

My boy doesn't even attempt. He missed a few questions here and there. Suspect his eyes transformed to top and bottom in class, wide apart. Can do qn 1 and next sec, jump to qn 3. Not once, but a few times across all subjects! :slapshead:
Scary,
You're referring to the T2 mini tests that he missed some qns?
His daily worksheets from school. Still unsure about his mini tests. Told him if I see that again, I will make sure his \"backside open flowers\". -

Hey, Sun_2010, please do not say that you are barging in!! I definitely appreciate your kind advice!! ya, my girl took a few days, then confide in me..I felt so bad & shocked..she did not understand why the boy did something like this..& I did tell her that she must stop anyone from doing such things & must tell teacher herself, instead of telling her friends..& must let me know also..okie, think I better make a trip to speak to the FT.. Thanks a lot for your advice
Your girl is very pretty! When I saw her at our last BBQ, I already knew she will attract many boys in future, but never expect it to be so early. Really Scary! -

Hi, parents..need some advice here..but not academic though..
my girl came home & told me that a male classmate suddenly kissed her on her cheeks in canteen, while queueing up to buy food..according to her, 1 canteen hawker saw..she was shocked, but did not tell her teachers, except 1 good friend, who went on to tell chinese teacher, who then went to inform their Form teacher..
According to my girl, FT did speak to the boy..but my girl mentioned something like teacher say will give him 2 more chances!! which I feel no more chance should be given at all..but my girl may not have heard correctly..
I am not sure what I should do now..or should I not do anything at all?? I think I should at least find out from the FT on what has been conveyed to the boy?? Will I be deemed as too 'gan jeong' or kicking a big fuss if I asked FT??
Never expect such worries to come 5-6 years earlier than I expected
