cool_hi,
Hey, Sun_2010, please do not say that you are barging in!! I definitely appreciate your kind advice!! ya, my girl took a few days, then confide in me..I felt so bad & shocked..she did not understand why the boy did something like this..& I did tell her that she must stop anyone from doing such things & must tell teacher herself, instead of telling her friends..& must let me know also..okie, think I better make a trip to speak to the FT.. Thanks a lot for your advice
Your girl is very pretty! When I saw her at our last BBQ, I already knew she will attract many boys in future, but never expect it to be so early. Really Scary! -

Your dd trains so much still must lose weight? And if you're going to confiscate food, shouldn't you be confiscating the fattening muffin and not the presumably healthier sandwich alternative?Funx3:
Ha Ha ....
I Know, But Mummy will Confiscate the Sandwich ....
Coz Coach say Must Lose Wt -le! Ha Ha ....

My Gal's Mate (Another Gal who's in the Same Wt Cat as My Gal) is Commenting, in BMI terms, they R Already on the Lower End of Healthy Wt. But in the Team, they R considered as the Heavy Weights. The Next Heaviest is > 12kg lighter than them!
As for the Muffin / Sandwich .... JK -la!
I Let her Eat as much as she wants - and she has a Healthy Appetite!

Hi, parents..need some advice here..but not academic though..
my girl came home & told me that a male classmate suddenly kissed her on her cheeks in canteen, while queueing up to buy food..according to her, 1 canteen hawker saw..she was shocked, but did not tell her teachers, except 1 good friend, who went on to tell chinese teacher, who then went to inform their Form teacher..
According to my girl, FT did speak to the boy..but my girl mentioned something like teacher say will give him 2 more chances!! which I feel no more chance should be given at all..but my girl may not have heard correctly..
I am not sure what I should do now..or should I not do anything at all?? I think I should at least find out from the FT on what has been conveyed to the boy?? Will I be deemed as too 'gan jeong' or kicking a big fuss if I asked FT??
Never expect such worries to come 5-6 years earlier than I expected

abc123mama, your boy indeed did very well already. better than my boy too. so i hope no knee-jerk reaction, but assure him instead.
My boy scored worse than yours in HCL & EL paper 2. Ytd, he came back with part of NC marks (I dunno why). Paper 1 for languages, Listening Compreh/Oral and Sci marks are not released yet.abc123mama:
Any parents know something about P5 SA1 results. My boy kept very quiet and demoralized. He scored 70 to 75 for Chinese and English main paper, math 85 plus. It is like a shock to my boy in Loyalty 9. When I asked him about his friends, he told me no one would tell him. What a depressed mood the class is in I think!
Any parents can share if you know. My hubby is very strict with my boy. I am depressed too and keep the results secrets with my boy.
We have not seen the papers yet, no point getting depressed whatever. Moreover, PH is known for setting difficult P5 papers.
I was at PizzaHut last week and seated next to a father & daughter (who was wearing MGS uniform). Their conversation was centred on P5 exam results. The father acknowledged that P5 is a big jump and affirmed the daughter's efforts. I thought this father was wonderful as he has looked beyond scores and has acknowledged P5 is more difficult and most imptly, his daughter's efforts.
should wait for the report book and look at the percentiles. i would not be surprised if he is in the high 80s in percentiles. -
Pei Hwa is known for setting killer papersโฆI told son (and myself) to get up and move on. Work goes on as usual. Son acknowledged his mistake and agreed to work harder. I hope this is for real.

Boys mature later...this is true but not all are like mine.
I think our DS are not mature yet.... still living in \"daze\" days... Even I have stopped his computer games before CA1 started, the end results are still the same... and till now I have not given any go ahead for him to touch the computer game as i see no improvement at all in his SA1... ya... really have to buck up this June, if not .....You are right we cannot give up....LE ANN:
Hi Le Ann,
I am totally disappointed for his Eng bcos I just dont understand how he can possibly fail paper 2 :stompfeet: today, I could only plan my younger one's holiday schedule and that took me 2 hours plus.
Carefree and still in dreamland. No more entertainment devices until Oct 2...I don't care. We gotta give each other moral support. :hi5:
Yes, let's encourage each other and give one another moral support. Work Hard and chiong !! -

Hi Le Ann, my ds is in P6 too. Not sure about your 2 boys, but it seems what my boy is going through is quite common among P5/6 boys especially those with younger siblings. My son is becoming much more short-fused, gets irritated easily, terrorized his younger sis (in fact, everyone in the house!), can't control his frustration / anger etc. It turns him off whenever he knows that it's time to do work / study. We can see from his hw that he is not putting in effort, if he even completes them. HW was done all the way to past 11pm coz he just didn't focus to finish them during the time he is back home till dinner time. Even if he said his hw is done, there will definitely be some more 'surprises' undone hw that pops up inevitably at ...10pm, just before bedtime! He dragged himself on Sun night knowing it's going to be another week again, gets even more moody etc. Fights & screams with him were common occurrences everyday
We thought this can't go on, else he will burnout before PSLE. Our relationship turned sour and the tension at home were terrible. We reduced the frequency to use threats eg shorter computer time, phone games, outings to meet cousins etc. Instead, we increased his 'relax' time, we went for movies 2 days before exam, brought him to cousin's house to relax, continue his badminton lessons eventhough it is exam period, dragged him to swim, went out for dinner, allowed him to read or play after he finished his planned work etc. At the same time, I let him planned his own timetable, accepting deliverables that were 30% lesser than what I would have set. I also gave him much leeway to accomplish them should there be alot of hw then.
The result is - not that his SA1 results are fantastic, in fact, it is quite similar if not a bit better than CA1, but more importantly, he is obviously a more relaxed boy. Fewer outburst of emotion (still have lah), more willing to co-operate to do what he planned, generally a less tensed-up boy. We are happier, he is happier too.
To be honest, I am not sure if we had continued to push him to study more/longer, his results will be better though. I don't even think work harder (loosely and easily translate to longer hours mugging his books) = better results. In fact, it maybe the contrary.
So whenever people said they will work harder for PSLE, I hope it works for my boy but I think he has sort of reached his limit. His ability is there and if he is in a more confident and relaxed mode, he will probably perform even better, vs an extremely stressed boy who will be burnout before prelim!
Just to share my experience. To each of its own. Let's do whatever we think it works best for our kids
Another 4+ months to go. Jia you!

It might be the onset of puberty setting in.
My elder boy's CL tutor told me that she had a very tiring period with her only daughter during her P5/P6 years. Turned out her daughter was undergoing physical changes as well as experiencing her first menses. Once her menses pattern stabilised, she returned to her old joyful self.
Lack of rest n sleeping after 10pm also resulted in my elder boy's being easily agitated, so I resorted to seeking TCM ๅฎ็ฅ medicine for him and enforced strict rules that lights must be off by 9.30pm. -
