My DS had been doing the past year top school papers and I think it helps. At least, he scored 99 /100 for Maths and 59.5/64 for English.

Everyday this week is like on roller coaster. I got another DD in P6. Can't sleep weel until see all their marks. One day make you happy, another day make you mad. But to them, seems like :rahrah: I even had nightmare about DSA for my DD.

DD got back her maths paper today. 5 questions types not taught in class before. In Sec B & Sec C, thats a lot of marks lost !Why they test on something that not been taught ?? :frustrated:

The schools my girls have attended/are attending inform parents that there will be higher order questions in exams to supposedly sift the creme of the crop within the cohort. So, it's ok if they don't get it right. We were told in advance not to beat ourselves up over it, so fair enough. Hee.. So when DD2 does get one or two higher order questions right, I'm pleasantly surprised.

We depend a lot on their school teachers. Especially now that we have more children. Not enuff one to one teaching time. So far we are happy teachers there can be relied on. :please: Communication channel is also very good. We have each other's mobile stack number plus email addie and of course the Pupil's Diary. Very pleased. So long as don't get those mc-queen/king type.. like biscuits, now u see it now you don't pattern.. consider very blessed liao.

Funz... you ecstatic... I will :faint: from happiness. Dd2 works reali hard so I'll be very happy if she gets rewarded in kind (with her results). I screamed :yikes: when she was first in class last year and topped her class for Eng & Math. Overjoyed like siao! :rotflmao:

I dowan to listen to un-validated marks (from what they say they got) :politebleah:... show me the actual papers... or nothing. I refuse to be taken on a roller coaster ride.

My DS claimed he scored 14/15 for CL Compo which is quite unbelievable.. ..Like buds, I'll wait till I see the papers.
Not sure if they let students have the compo papers back..
My DS did better than I expected, but I still show the 'aunty' face de..

Sorry not meant to rub salt into the wound, the smarter one will naturally know, if everything is taught n tested from textbook then how to differentiate the 'bestest' from the best .... Welcome to the reality of sg world class education.

Suz855, if you had seen / tried Onsponge Thinking Maths book, you will know how difficult are those questions about internal transfer . Even mummy need to think twice or can't solve it. No way for kids to attemp if they are not taught.
If the smarter one can solve these questions naturally, then he/she is gifted.
If the so called smarter one can solve these questions because gets extra coaching from tuition teacher, you think he/she still consider the real 'bestest' from the best ??

All this while didn't bother about DS's Science and thought nothing of it..
Panic 3 weeks before exam, he can't handle the questions and clueless..
Enrolled him in tuition and started 'Aunty Crash Course'...
After a dozen more white hairs and he heng heng made it band 1...
