Xuelin’s holiday class is focusing on reading; getting the students to be interested in picking up Chinese books. The target group is from K2 to P5. We have received the literature regarding the program which seems very interesting. I can pm you. It’s so unfortunate that my P6 can’t join as she will be in the PSLE preparatory class.
What is hua Cheng?

Hua Cheng is another chinese education center, which has other branches at thomson and eastpoing. I only tried the one at Bukit Timah Plaza at the same floor as xue lin, as just fit to my time. Here is the link: http://www.huachengeducation.com.sg/

saw hua cheng at bt timah too.. didnt wanna try out as have spoken to some XL's parents whom have used to send their kids there and feedback their method not effective.
Sorry just saw your reply. Actually, I think huacheng and xuelin both have their separated strength. I also heard some parents enrolled classes from both of them. I am think to do in this way next term if time allows as it is not saficent once a week for my p5 one anyway.

my daughter is in N2 this year and i’m interested in Xuelin. Any idea whether they offer any classes of kindy age or they only start at K2?

              How much are their fees?

              Thanks!

Thanks Pixy. Any idea of how different Xuelin is compared to Berries? cos DD is currently attending Berries…but becos i’m teaching her Chinese at home as well, I find that Berries standard is a bit low. I’m looking for something that can help to improve her oral skills cos both me and hb can’t speak good Chinese… =(

                      Hello shm125,

In my earlier posts, i had commented the difference between Berries and XL for N2 level. They use quite similar method of teaching - ie. teach a few new words each week, and learning the strokes for writing chinese characters. The head teacher who wrote the curriculum for berries has moved to XL. (the lady boss of XL told me).

                      Here are the main diff:
Berries - size of class is min. 10 students, with 2 teachers (main down side). Hands on crafty type of learning (eg. recently, they gave out a really cute mini story book in the shape of a watermelon, on the words that they have learnt). Term 3 - they will be giving out a special pen that will help (? not sure what that is for, and how it helps. Will update next time). They have a CD with chinese songs, that my daughter loves to listen and sing to. They teach Idioms.

XL - very small class size. In fact, in my daughter’s class, there are only 2 kids. They will send a video to me at least 1x a month to show me my daughters progress.

If you teach your daughter at home, just looking for oral skills, then chinese speech and drama??? We come from english speaking family, so i am putting in more effort to help my daughter in her chinese.

                        Thanks Pixy.

sorry- didn’t see your previous posts while scanning thru tis thread.

Currently i find berries class a bit large. My DD is currently attending chinese S&D enrichment By Hua Lang Ctr at her kindergarten. Altho’ she loves to sing the songs taught, she is not very conversant in Chinese =( I don’t mind speaking to her in Chinese but my phasing is so horrid- i think i’m more likely to teach her the wrong sentence structure (probably due to thinking in English and translating it into Chinese).

I guess i will have to pop down to check out XL. Do they happen to have any June holiday prog?

is you daughter gg for both berries and XL?
