Pro-Teach Student Care
-
went to pro-teach toa payoh last month and they told me intake for P1 in 2012 has been frozen!! was kinda upset cos when i went to see them last year, they told me no hurry and go see them in feb/mar. i had told them since last year i want to register my son and put my daughter on waiting list, so i wasn’t very happy with how they handled it.
a fren of mine put her daughter at pro-teach in hong wen currently (p1 this year).
the class was full initially, so as the waiting list got longer, they decided to open another class, and finally her daughter got in. but she had to look for alternative care prior to that.
so yes, while we parents don wanna be kiasu, these instances have told me that sometimes we have no choice. employers are generally not happy when we have to take leave frequently over such family matters.
imagine if my fren did not manage to find alternative care, she would have to take half-day leave for almost a month! -
Any latest advice on pro tech at choa chu kang branch next to De La Salle? We visited last year and did not enrol for the following reasons:
a. The door was unlocked. I knocked for a long time and realised 2 aunties were chit-chatting inside (1 turned out to be a teacher and the other is the helper).
b. The place was dark.
c. The eating area was at the study area.
d. Classrooms were so cramped that it reminded me of make shift classrooms in developing countries.
e. Open kitchen
f. Toilets are messy and dark.
g. The kids sat quietly in a dark corner reading. No cushions or chairs and all were seated there. When I said hello, they just stared at me without responding. -

What-to-do:Why not we go ask the pricnipal of the student care of our concern that we update each other here?[/quote]I have the same questions. Im planning to send my boy to Horizon Primary,
mainly cuz they have a student care located inside the school. If there is no guarantee place for Horizon's students, i may have to reconsider my options.
Hi

I had a frustrating experience with Pro-Tech After School Care in Horizon Primary School. From my last encounter with the centre principal, i figured that the demand for their centre is so good that they can make thoughtless decision. Take it or leave it. Inflexible, high-handed and lack of planning. If you are in their waiting list, you can wait forever unless someone drops out. No point appealing no matter how desperate you are. You can also forget about calling their HQ as they will just refer your feedback back to the respective centres.
Since they decided to accept only one of out my TWO children studying in the school, i’ve decided to withdraw my application for the one accepted by the centre because it makes no sense for me.
For those parents who consider school based care centres, I noticed that Pro-Tech Centre closes when the school close (eg. PSLE marking day, special school events etc). I thought that’s when we need the centre for - to take care of our children when there’s no school during school term.
Furthermore, Students are to wait in school canteen after say 5pm and outside the school after 6.30pm with one centre staff. So for parents who knock off at 6pm and takes more than half hour travel time, do take that into consideration.
