GEP - General Syllabus Discussion

During the GEP briefing at the school earlier this year, it was stated that 70% is the baseline for promotion criteria to next GEP year. Of course, they will still look at the aptitude & attitude of the pupil as well. \"All pupils are monitored for coping and performance.\"
oh, is it ? I think I missed that part. So 70% to get promoted, that's tough....hopefully DS2 can get at least a passing mark ... -

Don't worry. I don't think they are aiming to fail the kids & stop them from being promoted. Surely they will work with the kid (& parents) to help him/her in the areas required to improve for future tests in order to pull up their averages. :xedfingers: -

Thank you, hopefully everyone can do well and get through ...dagong99

The most important is still the year end final paper which contribute the most percentage to the overall score.mickeyhmh:

My DS in Tag2 said highest score for Chinese in his class is 56/60. :scared: -
Has the science paper 2 been given out yet? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that DS will at least passed (as in 30/60) :xedfingers:

Sci : Nearly fall off from my chair when DD told me she got overall score of 65. She sat for the test and got 42/60. Wondered if the performance task pulled her down. No wonder she told me to be mentally prepared…
HCL : Still managed to score 80% abv and highest score in the sch is 89.5%.
Eng : Still unknown
Wonder if the 70% baseline applies to per subject or overall aggregate score? If per subject, I think time to go for extra tuition…stress !!! -

Hi Pinball,
How did yr DS class perform overall for Eng? If the score is mediocre, this may imply that the Eng standard is tough for these kids . Is it on 40 marks? -
EL seemed to have been a killer paper. DS1 didn't do well either. Just under baseline :gloomy: His class average wasn't too high & there were a couple of failures (as in less than 50%). Highest in his class was 33 (iirc). Score is over 40. SA2 will be a deciding factor for this subject for DS1.
Waiting to see how he did for Science. :xedfingers:
