Me too! I find the increase too much! I didn't know there was already an increase last year as my gal started p1 this year. They said due to raising cost in the economy too. So if there is a recession, are they going to reduce the bus fees?!?!Any parents here felt the increase in the bus transport costs too drastic? My monthly fees is going to be up by 28% and for CCA (ie. taking the 4pm bus) the increase is 200%.
Even though an increase in inevitable in view of rising cost of living, this is too exorbitant. They had last increased their fees in 2011 citing increasing diesel prices. An a year later, they are coming back with the same reasons. Did operating costs increased 30% year on year?
Felt that I'm being held ransom since there is no other alternative available and the operator has been with the school for as long as I could remember (ie. more than 5 years). Maybe it's time to open up and call for public tender. Follow the procurement procedures of government agencies. -
Hw much is the 2 way trips or single way?
-
I pay for 2 ways. Not much difference even if its 1 way, maybe a couple of dollars less. Its not like monthly fares divide by two, doesn’t work this way.

Hi chocpockie, same reason was given last year but at that time, diesel along with petrol prices was really on the upward trend. But if you look at what they have enclosed, diesel prices have maintained relatively constant hovering $1.65 on average. So why the substantial increase. And this round, they have gone through the due process with the school.
Any other parents here thinks the increase in reasonable. Especially from the parents of upper primary since they would have a pretty good idea if the transport operator does this on an annual basis. Mostly timed during the mid year. -

I hope more parents will feedback to RV office. May or may not help but at least must show that we parents are not happy with the fees hike. -

Hi, have received the ‘latest package’ from the bus operator.
Couldn’t believe the extra CCA trip has increased 4 folds @ $8.
DS can just grab a cab outside school and it doesn’t even cost that much to reach the doorstep.
Furthermore, taking the extra bus trip, he pays $8 and still needs to walk about 150m from the nearest bus stop.
Is anyone going to do up a petition to RVPS to object such increase?
Please count me in. -
My increase was even more ridiculous; an increase of S$19 for a 1-way transport. Yes, more parents should feedback their unhappiness to the school. Hopefully with the pressure from parents, the school will intervene and take action. I have already called the school this morning, so hopefully more parents can help by giving feedback to the school.

Hi winth and mmummy, you hv PM

Getting a cab home from the school is not easy going by all the private housing around that area. Taxi don’t usually pass that area if supplementary or CCA ends at 3 to 4pm.
If going by what is scheduled in 2nd quarter of 2012, my DD has classes 2 times a week, 8 times a month. Add the increase in the 4pm bus fare together with the increase in monthly bus fare, overall increase is a whopping 67%.
