Hi chocpockie, same reason was given last year but at that time, diesel along with petrol prices was really on the upward trend. But if you look at what they have enclosed, diesel prices have maintained relatively constant hovering $1.65 on average. So why the substantial increase. And this round, they have gone through the due process with the school.


Any other parents here thinks the increase in reasonable. Especially from the parents of upper primary since they would have a pretty good idea if the transport operator does this on an annual basis. Mostly timed during the mid year.

Hi, have received the ‘latest package’ from the bus operator.


Couldn’t believe the extra CCA trip has increased 4 folds @ $8.
DS can just grab a cab outside school and it doesn’t even cost that much to reach the doorstep.
Furthermore, taking the extra bus trip, he pays $8 and still needs to walk about 150m from the nearest bus stop.

Is anyone going to do up a petition to RVPS to object such increase?

My increase was even more ridiculous; an increase of S$19 for a 1-way transport. Yes, more parents should feedback their unhappiness to the school. Hopefully with the pressure from parents, the school will intervene and take action. I have already called the school this morning, so hopefully more parents can help by giving feedback to the school.

Getting a cab home from the school is not easy going by all the private housing around that area. Taxi don’t usually pass that area if supplementary or CCA ends at 3 to 4pm.


If going by what is scheduled in 2nd quarter of 2012, my DD has classes 2 times a week, 8 times a month. Add the increase in the 4pm bus fare together with the increase in monthly bus fare, overall increase is a whopping 67%.

Anybody’s child staying in Jurong and taking school bus? The operator turned me down saying it’s too far. But I thought Poh Lee’s office is in Joo Koon?

Hi, Poh Lee initially turned me down saying their big bus had problems turning into the road outside my house. And I stay near town.


When I offered to walk my son to a ‘bigger’ road, they turned me down again saying that they have no student pick ups there, not worth stopping just for him.

And then, I offered a nearby bus stop, just next to that ‘bigger road’.
Then BINGO, there is a student that they pick-up and that’s when DS was ‘lucky’ enough to be picked up by the bus.

Actually, their service is really bad. You have to keep calling and insisting and initiating, if not, they won’t be bothered to tell you the pickup locations. They’ll just cite some excuse.

You might want to offer some main ‘bus stop’ or stations.

For all the parents’ info, I have emailed to the 2 VPs on the unreasonable fare revision and was informed that they will speak with the bus operator. I asked if they want to look at another bus operator instead of using just one. The parent whose girl was picked up at the same stop as mine, will be talking to the teachers too to raise awareness on this issue. She too finds $8 abit too much a raise.

And regardless the outcome, I’m training DS1 to take the direct bus back home on days that he attends enrichment classes, with a hp in hand, DH works stone’s throw away. Should be safe.


I think even if they revise downwards, it won’t be anywhere near the existing $2 per trip that I’m paying now.

Pretty upset about it.
