That's very good result ! Believe highest in my dS class was only 33 . So yr DS is very close to the TOP !

Is the ppw was really too challenging , or the current batch of students are really below expectations ? :?[/quote]Ha... of course not, I don't think the teacher will be too pleased to see so many of the her students after seeing them in the school time. The teacher will select those that she deem needs 'help'.
Don't worry too much parents of P4. Last year, my dd also just managed to pass the 70% mark. So during the PTM, I asked the teacher regarding this baseline thingy. She said that this baseline was to gauge whether your kid was coping well or not, nothing to do with promotion. The passing mark was still 50%. But for kid that obtained score below/around the baseline, the teacher might suggest remedial lesson for the kid to attend in next term. Yeap, in the end, my dd needed to attend remedial lesson.comfy:

I forget to highlight that the score that the baseline is based on the overall grade of a subject. For example, science score will take into consideration of performance task, filing, attitude besides the test score. I am sure this is mentioned in the briefing somewhere in Jan. So, normally most of the kids will get average score ie pass the baseline. At least this is the case of my dd's class. -

DA is daily assignments, include things like, composition, comprehension, ERP book review, portfolio, project work etc...

Hi all, my dd is in P5 this year. Just like to share my observation here.
For P4 & P5, do not underestimate the importance of DA for English. For CA1 & CA2, DA take up 60% respectively. For overall, its CA1+CA2=50% & SA= 50%. Which means CT1, is just 10% of the overall SA combined. So if ur kids did not do well for this CT1 paper, do not despair. Cheers...

DS did quite well for revision and past year mock papers so was very :yikes: with his results. Anyway told him not too feel too disappointed just have to work harder for the rest of the year. Don't want him to lost heart, he told me \"mum, maybe I am not suitable for the prog?\" -

Honestly, not only some students feel in this manner , but parents do as well . No wonder some of the experienced parents in this forum keep on warning us not to set too high expectations. Welcome to the realistic world ...

I hv yet to see any of the papers back, so I am clueless how challenged are the papers. :? -
This is a repost, I hv shared this sentiment in another thread.
I’m sure many parents share the same sentiments. When our kids were in mainstream, they basically breezed thru all exams, topping class or level without much problems. But when come to GEP, they need to put in more effort, as all the subjects r pitched at a higher level, in order to tap to their so called "fullest potential", I guess.
Hence, both parents & kids have to manage their expectations more realistically. I dun think it is wise to expect them to excel in every paper, in all subjects. A little setback is necessary & good for the kids sometimes. -
The GEP programme is meant to stretch pupils’ abilities… So naturally some strains and "pains" will be expected. Pupils will face competition which they did not need to when they were in P1-3. I concur that we should not expect all GEP pupils to excel in ALL subjects.
Yes, some of them might need some additional help for specific subjects or specific areas. But, from experience, it is not a good idea to set astronomical expectations for all subjects then load our children with "additional" classes/tuition for every subject. It would be more beneficial and efficient (not to mention economical) if we identify specific needs and find the trained and qualified tutors to guide them in those areas. -

I agree, it has always been smooth sailing without much effort for DS so I feel this is also a good wake up call. We have never expected him to be good in all subject or everything. We told him he should just continue to enjoy being in the prog and learn to work harder -

Any of your child sign up for the 28thMay outing for Higher Chinese? Heard his class 9 students being chosen to join the outing. Total 50 students fr P4/P5 will join this outing. Never say go where yet. Any more info?
My DS signed for the outing. He is in Tag2. Your DS is in Tag2 or Tag3?
