For comprehension, it's best to use passages in past year papers. They are more 'real' compared to assessment books.

You can trust our dearest Champion here to upload pics for easy reference ๐Ÿ˜‰ Get my boy to practise his cloze published by Ace. You can find it at Big Bookshop. It's very plain and cover is flimsy.
so sad, Big Bookshop in Clementi closed down.

        Salute Janet & Champion !

wondering how you all find time to let child practise so many guide / assessment books ! :salute:

After what happened, cannot take chances.
Not doing a lot, just 1-2 practices in his weak areas. But don't understand why teacher is still making them do project...for what ??? :stupid:

Project in English? If it is not compulsory, just dont bother.

But I find science projects are useful

What ??? :yikes: the one in Clementi closed down ? When did that happen ?
I know assessment book industry is competitive...looks like there is only one market player now.

I went there somewhere in March or April, canโ€™t remember as many of you recommend this store. It already look like going to be tear down with not much selection of books as what have been mentioned. Iโ€™ve been wondering why? So now I know, they are going to stop business there.

yes, so sad. i used to buy a lot of things from Big Book store for my kids.

i guess these days physical book stores find it tough to survive as many turned to mobile devices for reading.

Yeah, I was there to get some titles published by Ace. Bought a few assessment too. The place looked run down. It didn't occur to me that there were plans to shut down. Thought the management didn't care much about appearance.

                      Hi

By way of context, this is what I use on DS1

Vocab - EPH P4 Complete Practice in Vocab, Grammar, Comp & Cloze.
Preston S1 Vocab (soon to start on this wonderful book).

Grammar - EPH P4 Complete Practice in Vocab, Grammar, Comp & Cloze

Cloze - SAP Conquer Your Cloze P3

Comprehension - Yet to find a decent OE/MCQ Challenging
Comprehension book (with more than 5 questions)
                      - Nanyang P3/P4 Exam Papers.
                      - I have bought assorted old O-Level English books,
which DS1 will embark on this autumn.

Creative Writing - New First Aid in English and Practise Your English.

Mathematics - P3 Challenging Maths by EPH, Sandya Sundhar (this
                      is superb)
                      - Looking for a suitable Maths IQ book, not Olympiad
as they are not that useful

                      General Ability - Australian books:
                      - http://www.pascalpress.com.au/SearchRes ... al+ability
                      - Assorted books from India (for college entrance)
                      Hi

I did eventually find a very good MCQ English Book, which is higher than PSLE and pitched at about S2.

I think it is useful for PSLE MCQ English prep, and thought I would share author, titles and ISBN detauils. It is a fantatsic book, which lots of explanation, lots of exercise and answers too.

Don't Guess: Introduction to Objective Tests in English Language R.A. Banks (Author)

                      ISBN-13: 978-0340364567

Janet, thanks for reply. Where can I get the the cloze passage by Ace? from Popular? The past year papers you mentioned are PSLE past year papers or top-school past year papers? Thanks.
