GEP - General Syllabus Discussion

Hence, both parents & kids have to manage their expectations more realistically. I dun think it is wise to expect them to excel in every paper, in all subjects. A little setback is necessary & good for the kids sometimes.[/quote]
I agree, it has always been smooth sailing without much effort for DS so I feel this is also a good wake up call. We have never expected him to be good in all subject or everything. We told him he should just continue to enjoy being in the prog and learn to work harder

Any of your child sign up for the 28thMay outing for Higher Chinese? Heard his class 9 students being chosen to join the outing. Total 50 students fr P4/P5 will join this outing. Never say go where yet. Any more info?
My DS signed for the outing. He is in Tag2. Your DS is in Tag2 or Tag3? -
Yesterday the exam papers were brought back for parents signature.
Took a deep look of English and Science, not easy, need higher thinking skill, as his teacher said. -
Ds mentioned his classmates (including him) most felt upset yesterday, I asked why, He said because scared of being scold by parents. Poor kids! So I decided say nothing, although scared of his score as well.

DS is averaging below 70% for most subjects :sad:This is a repost, I hv shared this sentiment in another thread.
I'm sure many parents share the same sentiments. When our kids were in mainstream, they basically breezed thru all exams, topping class or level without much problems. But when come to GEP, they need to put in more effort, as all the subjects r pitched at a higher level, in order to tap to their so called \"fullest potential\", I guess.

I am really concerned cos I know he is quite disappointed that he can't do well even though he has put in effort..
EL used to be his strongest subject but now he is scoring below baseline and i know he feels demoralised.
DS has also told me that he thinks he is not good enough for the programme and asked if he should go back to mainstream.. Can't help but feel sad for him.. -

Don't be discouraged. Some of my ds classmates did badly in p4 but their results gradually improved in p5 and p6. This is only the first exam. It is still too early to say whether the kids are suitable for the program. Jia you:)

Gep English is usually tough to score as there are only 2 components, cloze and comprehension. However the paper only contributes to 40 percent. If he has done his daily work well, it may pull up his overall English mark.

I got from DS that they were asked to fill some survey form about their feeling of this GEP course yesterday.
