At the speed the Ferrari was going, on the impact I really don't think airbag would have saved the taxi driver. Nonetheless I agree taxis should be installed in all taxis... Though there have been instances where airbags coz suffocation when the victims passed out on it or victims sustained bruises (& sometimes broken noses) to their faces due to the pressure from deployment of airbag.

At dat kind of estimated speed on impact n being hit broadside,
I daresay d airbag is pretty much useless.

can anyone just \"suka suka\" demand for compensation and expect the authorities to just act based on netizens' demand for compensation?
NO.. it must be initiated by the taxi driver's family.

If they initiated it, than the govt should provide some form of legal assistance.

govt cannot openly show hand like that. then next time how, then last time how come no such support in other terrible accidents.

but... govt can quietly tell comfort cab to show special support to the cabby family.

As a matter of routine for all who cannot afford legal recourse, or because there is a foreign national involved?

Just trying to understand the philosophical basis for this....

Legal aid is open to all who can’t afford to pay a lawyer

in this particular instance - those kind of ‘ambulance lawyer’ from USA is "useful", they will start suing the F driver’s estate / family as well as the car manufaturer, and perhaps even LTA for the road works n that area …

Those kind of lawyers r attracted to accidents n possible huge payouts like flies to corpse.

                  2. A very rich foreign national (or maybe even local), and the victim being the sole bread winner of a not well-to-do citizen family.

                  Essentially, case-by-case basis.

But first, maybe the family should seek MP help and go by that path. If the family not keen to pursue, then no point doing anything.

So if it were a Singaporean driving the Ferrari, should the g'ment be involved, apart from the usual legal aid for those who cannot afford it?

Case by case according to who's criteria?

if its case-by-case basis.. then.. there is no need to specify a criteria..

Just like PR approval.. they never give a reason. it is evaluated as a case by case basis.

In the current case.. apparently, the general opinion is that the govt should provide some form of assistance, should they decide to sue.

mebbe help them to engage a lawyer or ask someone from the legal department to help them with the case?

And g'ment action should be driven by popular netizen opinion. And what if they say no.

I ask again, what if the Ferrari was driven by a Singaporean, should the g'ment be providing special legal aid.
