I think it really depends on the strength of the entire cohort? But an average of 90% is already very good.hamster:
I would like to know if a P2 child total score around 270/300 got chance to P3 HA class?
Pick the Top 160 students, so each class will have around 12 to 13 students qualify.
May be got chance?
I also think an average score 90% is very good, however I look at my DD Class for english and chinese test most really score high marks.
English - At least 12 score 40/50 and above.
Chinese - At least 20 score 27/30 and above.
Math - I am not very sure.
With those high scorers from her class, I really have no idea with her average score of 90% is good enough to go HA?
May be need some information from the parent who have kids now in High Ability class, can share?

Yup…I’m also interested to know the past year’s trends…
Also would the class teacher start to monitor the HA students since P1? And is the selection based purely on academic results, ie, what if the child is not exhibiting consistent top results but is noticed to be HA by nature? -

What is banding classes? Anyway, based on what I know, P3 HA (High Achiever)classes are made up of kids with around 270 & above - a mix of top 5 achievers and the other top few kids fm each class. Even if kids do not get into HA classes, it is alright as everything taught in P3 is the same for all the classes and it is also no guarantee that the HA classes will get the best teachers. Note that school tend to allocate the best teachers to P1 and P5/6 only.

No more collage classes since P3 in Yr 2011. Reason given was ‘lack of resources’. -
How about the "extra" chinese class? For kids with a better grasp of chinese? At which level do these classes start?

What is generally the marks for Top 5 of each class - P1, P2? Close to 100%?

P2 for my child who is in P4 now.
