I think that happens to other top schools also laaa.. ๐Ÿ˜‰
My son is in P1 in NYPS and I often meet other parents when I fetch my son home (I work fm home, not the privileged SAHM, wife of garmen pp  ). We have NEVER discussed or compare marks, neither have I been asked about my kid's marks though he is one of the better ones in class too.

I vote for Henry Park. Reason being it offers GEP and I heard rumours that NYPS GEP batch did not perform well in the MA paper.

of course not all the parents of top schools behave like that..nevertheless some parents of non-top schools are pretty gancheong too... I think is pretty normal.... ๐Ÿ˜‰

KSP:
My prediction is Raffles Girls' Primary School.

The reasons are

1) they have very dedicated teachers there.
2) the last time they produced the top student was 2006 and they have missed the trophy for 2 years (2007, 2008), this year they have a new P and may be tasked to get back the trophy.
3) based on the past statistics, the PSLE top students are mostly girls and being a GEP girl school will definitely stand a higher chance of producing one.
4) read from other forums that there is a P6 girl from RGPS who is the top of all GEP schools.
5) last but the most important point is my dd is studying there, hope having a top student in her school will inspire her to study hard.

1) Agree that they have dedicated teachers, but I feel only for P6 level.

2) I don't think in such short time can get back trophy. It depends on children's calibre (though it would bring glory if top student is from mainstream rather than GEP) than policies (ie extend sch hrs on Mon & Wed, having HMT from P2)

I vote for neighbourhood top scorer!

Reason being, it's about time dark horses show the dragons that they too can ROAR! And SOAR! :celebrate:

Too much emphasis and limelight has given to top schools. ๐Ÿ˜›
There are hidden gems in our neighbourhoods too people!
I'm definitely rooting for the under-dogs this time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hopefully, this year we can hear a true-story of a true-blue student who
survived the PSLE without tuitions or enrichments, tough odds as it may
be... that would be one inspiring story i am looking forward to this year.

:grphug:

Ok, my turn to tikam...

My prediction is Nanyang Primary School (NYPS) because:

(a) they have the most GEP classes

(b) every year, my sons' school gives away many GEP kids to NYPS

(c) many parents who think their kids are very smart and can compete with the other smart kids, try all means to get their kids into the school, hence, each new cohort is smarter.

(d) NYPS girls are super hardworking and resilient.

yooooo huuu !!! Here ! Here ! My girl was one who survived ... but not top student lah ...  ๐Ÿ˜„ LOL !!!

I put my tikam on Tao Nan. Reason, under Hokkien Huay Kuan, so far I have only heard of Chong Fu had top scorer. The next potential one under HHK, should be Tao Nan.

Re Catholic High parents - my friend's son was top boy every year and son was stopped by other parents and grandparents to find out which tuition centre he goes too. When the boy said none.... they asked what did his mum did with him. Ha.ha.ha... Also Catholic High parents are allowed into the school ... and they hang out at the canteen to pick up the children. I was there with some friends recently... you can see parents waiting outside the staff room... probably to meet the teachers to clarify some details.

Last year and this year, some RGPS, NYPS & CHS GEP parents I know collate marks from friends from other centres... they compare what the other centres do. I know my friends do know most of the other centres top performing pupils marks.

So if you ask me who would top PSLE this year - basing on the above \"research done\" it does seem like it would be from Nanyang.... in terms of \"carrot being dangled\" and being very motivated to be top PSLE performer then from what I hear it could be a boy from Nan Hua... his sister was in a neighbourhood school and she was one of the top performers in her batch. But you'll never know till next wk :? Does it matter ๐Ÿ˜„

Hi All,

Just want to share my Joy with all Kiasu comrades.. I have just received our son's NYPS P1 report card with an invitation card to attend the prize giving ceremony this Fri as one of the top 5 kids in his class
Note in NYPS, top 5 children are given prizes with no ranking for the rest in class.

This is totally unexpected as he made quite a few silly mistakes for his SA2 exam and he was really bochap and did little revision. All I managed to do was let him do some pass year papers.

I am over the moon!! Pls do not laugh at me ok.. I know this in only the beginning of a long journey to PSLE..Sec, JC and Uni.
