oh no, how can this happen ? My child was diagnosed with chicken pox and was given five days mc on Monday. Today, I brought him back to the clinic for review and another doctor said it is not chicken pox but normal rash due to hot weather.


Luckily this happened after SA1.

PSLE 2012:

Told me he didn't need the break after SA1 cos he needs to work extra hard to make it to his dream school. After I calmed down somewhat, I think I should count myself lucky that he has this positive attitude.

Wow, that's amazing. I was demoralized and devastated too and I didn't hide it from him this time. I told a friend about poor results. Her hubby said the reason could be poor time management. He taught me to build his confidence bit by bit, and to use a timer. Thank God for the valuable advice given.

Is it the norm for your dc sch not to release compo & oral marks?

For EL, only situational writing marks were ‘given’ (cos I managed to see it tho teacher blanko it off). H/e, no marks on compo writing given tho the paper was returned. Ds & dd said teacher dun tell dem marks for compo. I can only gauged the combined std of compo+oral. Even during PT mtg, teacher usually give general feedback like ok rather than telling the score. When checking grade, they will also cover the list to prevent us fr ‘peeping’.

For my DD school, all compo and oral marks are released but the actual compo paper the children are not allowed to bring home. They will be given to the children in class to see where their \"mistakes\" lie and what's the marks they obtain for language and content. For those weaker students, the teacher will put a \"see me!\" remarks at the top right hand corner and they will have to walk up to the teacher for her to go thru the with them during lesson period (according to my DD's feedback)

They can bring home the situational writing paper. During PTM, as parents, we can request to take a look at the compo written by our children and teacher will further discuss and suggest how to best improve the writing skills.

I am quite curious why yr child's school or teacher is so secretive about the marks. :? If they don't release the marks , how to know which area needs improvement ? :scratchhead:

Our school also gave the same answer. But at least they can show us during teachers-parents' meeting. Then we will know where she needs omprovement.

Our school also gave the same answer. But at least they can show us during teachers-parents' meeting. Then we will know where she needs omprovement.[/quote]IMO, I find keeping in touch with the teachers via email and SMS very important. I usually don't wait till PTM to get feedback or talk to the teachers. If I find that my DD's performance is slipping, I will email to respective teachers to find out more. That would save a lot of time \"fire fighting\" later for a subject.

My DD’s school don’t used to release those marks too.Maybe, you can try to speak to the P. After I spoke to the P last year, then the school agreed to give us the breakdown of the marks. I think no use speaking to the teachers,normally they don’t act unless instructions from the P.

Somehow I felt my son didn’t come to P6 academically prepared. If parents can build foundation in P5, P6 will be much better. Last year was hell bcos he failed Math the whole year.



I felt the same, haiz, now we hv to suffer double the stress. Mummies, better build the foundation earlier…
